I've recently become aware of a pattern where I'll be really immersed in tackling a problem like the "the problem" in my life. Problem gets solved and somehow another one pops up or more like five.
As a response I began to understand that your brain is a thinking organ. What it does is think and for biochemical-evolutionary reasons most of them are negative always focusing on the negatives.
Once you understand this you begin to realize that it's not so much about the outer world you should be 100% focused but rather inner world.
Which is why when I picked up mindfulness meditation on Halloween of 2016 it changed the course of my entire life. First 2 weeks were probably some of the most stressful weeks of my life. I had no problem sitting down everyday for 10 minutes but meditation was not easy and turns out I couldn't even focus for more than 5 seconds.
You just stick it out and do it everyday no matter what for a couple years. No excuses and if you're like me you will start to live life in the present moment maybe for the first time. I've arrived at this conclusion from interviewing 200 of the world's greatest people on the Humans 2.0 podcast. A mentor Ed Mylett @edmylett compares life to ocean waves where at the surface the waves can rage up and down but at the bottom there's a still quiet ocean. What you set as the foundations in the 24 hours pie chart creates the foundations of human pillars necessary to create that quiet ocean.
Focus on what can be controlled.
