Today I submitted my PhD thesis after (almost) 5 incredible years in the Crewther Lab!!!!!! On that note, I want to thank my amazing supervisor, Prof Sheila Crewther for making my PhD journey such an enjoyable one of personal and professional growth. To my co-supervisor, Prof Ben Ong - you were the first person who encouraged me to do a PhD. For some reason you saw potential in my research ability (lol) and I really wouldn’t be here without you ❤️. I can’t wait to brag to you about the strong independent scientist I have become haha. . . To my PhD family, in particular @zena_elhassan @jessicalee_xx you made the dismal Bio Science 2 building corridors more pleasant- Thank you for the genuine support and company you all provided along the way. . To my family and friends - thanks for all your patience in enduring endless conversations about neuroscience and the “PhD life”. To my angel Mumma in particular - I couldn’t have done this without you. . To my fav baristas @houseofcardsespresso - if only you knew how pivotal your large almond cappuccinos were to the final year of my PhD haha ❤️ ☕️. Thanks for the caffeine, the Spanish lessons, and the laughs. post grad life update: its been almost three weeks since i graduated and life has been going. my research mentor hired me for the summer so i’ve been in the lab three days a week. i’m so used to leaving research and going to study but i have nothing to study for. i spend countless hours roaming the internet trying to learn new things. i realized that my biology degree didn’t teach me transferable skills to use in the REAL WORLD. thank goodness i did things on my own terms in undergrad (learning more meaningful skills) and found my place in public health or i really wouldn’t have a job if i’m keeping it . so rule #1 kids: GET SOME TRANSFERABLE SKILLS! being proficient in microsoft word isn’t enough anymore, ladies & gents. • • • tomorrow i’ll post a day in my life on my IG story. be on the look out ‍ • • #honesty #inspiration #inspo #motivation #postgrad #fashion #fashionblogger #blog #detroitbloggers #lifestyle #lifestyleblog #update #birmingham #metrodetroit #igdaily #blackbloggers #blackgirlswhoblog
