Pregnancy changed my body big time. Yes, I know it did an amazing thing and I wouldn’t change that journey for anything and would do it again 10x to get my baby girl but I can’t ignore the fact that my body became something I hated. I hated the way I looked, the way I felt(exhaustion, no energy, just overall “bleh”), and the way I felt just stuck. Breastfeeding took off a few pounds but then I plateaued. Since deciding to make a change one month ago, I have seen and felt improvements all over. I was sooo self conscious about my face and neck, my butt because pregnancy made it flat, and of course my belly. I am building lean muscle and have never felt better. I have so much natural energy that I feel like I’m glowing. I am confident in my mom bod. I am proud of the hard work I’ve put in to get here. My cup is full so now I can pour into other aspects of my life. I am the best mom I can be. The best wife I can be. I am able to help other babes look and feel their best. It all started when my friend said "I'm not going to have a photographer for my wedding". At the time, I only used my camera to take photos of my dog, a pug who looks like it got hit in the face with a shovel but is too cute not to love. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I took a chance on myself, saying that if I could bless 1 couple, create 1 good photograph for their children to hold, that's what mattered most. And I'll be honest I was scared out of my mind, offering to photograph that first wedding. Immediately, I felt way in over my head. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Now, years later, and in my FIRST year being truly full-time, I'm realizing that it takes a whole lot of "firsts" and a whole lot of taking "chances" on yourself. I'm realizing that you SHOULD be feeling way in over your head; because that is a sure tell sign that you're probably doing something that holds meaning. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I felt way in over my head in high school, running for student body president (I lost in the runoff -- love you anyways @olivia.rascoe ). Now, I feel confident selling myself. I felt way in over my head when I joined a journalism club. Now, I feel confident in my writing and can tell a better story. I felt way in over my head, pressing "send" to apply for a photography internship while in high school. Now, I feel confident in going after what I want, having faith that He only gives what's best (even if it's different from my plan). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And being completely honest, I feel way in over my head this year as I look at my 2019 agenda. In the midst of the unknown, here's what is true: that I'm happiest documenting others' lives and pouring into others...that I am called to be faithful with where I am and what I've been given...that I'm exactly where I need to be, and that I'm already on the path to where I'm meant to go. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What about you?
