I hope you’re just as excited as me to see this one printed! . . ❉ Ink is currently drying for all 8 block editions! Once dried, I will post a countdown to a shop update in my stories. All of these editions are very limited (8 block editions, 12 or less prints per edition), all printed on handmade paper. I’m moving to editioned prints because this means that each print is numbered (for example: 1/10, 2/10...) which indicates meaning for each individual print as well as adds value because there is a set number created and will never be created again. . . New mandrake (or womandrake) block carved on a lino scrap. I enjoy the challenge of using scraps, how I'm constrained by the size/shape of the linoleum but also how the shape inspires the design. I find that using scraps takes off some of the pressure. "The Weaver, Clotho from the three Fates", an engraved linocut. This is a new technique that I have tried - engraving the hard lino with a burnin and inking in relief as opposed to cutting the block in the traditional linocut method. The threes Fates from Greek mythology are the creatures that weave the thread of life into existence (Clotho), measure the length of the thread (Lachesis) and then finally cut the thread (Atropos). The crows are taken from Nordic mythology and portray the birds that can fly between the 9 realms of existence. They are also "thought" and "memory". This print is on exhibition @rustenvrede_gallery as part of the "Bird Exhibition" opening this evening from 6 pm until 3 April.
