“Women are giving up Botox for facial massage”-Harpers Bazaar . It is happening. People are choosing circulation, life, vitality over paralyzation, asphyxiation and death. This make sound dramatic, but on a cellular level, it is exactly what is happening—not to mention hidden health risks involved. I will never shame anyone for their choice to use injections or fillers to reach their goals. We truly receive enough shame as humans and I respect anyone’s decision to take this route. I simply think it should be an educated choice to do so. I am here to help educate, but I am still learning about the long term effects of these treatments through my own research. For now, I am choosing Gua Sha. . Gua Sha is an ancient technique rooted in Chinese medicine and used to stimulate chi, or life flow. Blood, oxygen and lymph are triggered in the treated area, smoothing fine lines, directing tissues to detoxify and relaxing muscles, naturally. Results are awakened, brighter, lifted, smooth and toned skin. In addition to using this technique in treatment, I would love to help introduce this modality to you and incorporate it into your at home routine. Ask me how. . To be clear, Gua Sha is NOT new. Gua Sha dates back to 220 and has been taught in TCM for centuries. . Thank you to my Gua Sha guide, @cecilybraden for bringing this modality my way. Thank you to all the teachers that came before, passing down this ancient modality that is making waves today and offering an alternative to the norm. Excited to see @britta_beauty celebrated for the attention she has brought to this technique. . Thank you @ritual_skincare for this lovely photo of the Nepherite Jade Gua Sha tool. I love that I said “I can’t take a good photo of this tool!”, and you sent me this an hour later . . . . . . #selfcare #selflove #guasha #holisticskincare #facialmassage #oakland #holisticfacialist #radicalfacialist #harpersbazaar #skinwitch #skincare #botox #loveoakland #piedmontave #crystalfacial

Connect. Slow Down. Recharge. Renew. . I am loving the compounded results my clients have been seeing. It really pays off to come in and receive treatments every 4-8 weeks. You will see results after just one session, but the consistency is where the magic happens. Benefits of regular, intentional facial treatments include: ~balance to the central nervous system ~less hormonal breakouts ~stronger immune system ~regulation of circulation ~decrease in inflammation ~evened skin tone ~less hyperpigmentation ~clearer, cleaner skin ~relief of congestion and buildup in the skin-less blackheads and rosacea ~deeper G L O W . . . . . #radicalfacialist #connectivetissuemassage #manuallymphaticdrainage #selfhealing #skinwitch #oakland #loveoakland #skinwitch #facialmassage #piedmontave #plantbasedskincare #jessicaroux #society6 #selfcare #selflove

Using the MultiReflex Beauty Pad to work the neck and shoulders. By using this on dry skin and getting a gentle “tug” on the skin, the Beauty Pad can be used to release adhesions in the fascia. I use this technique for my shorter facial treatments like the 5 Elements Reflexology Facial. For my Face and Neck Rejuvenation Treatments, I go more in depth and use my hands to really feel into the fascia! The Beauty Pad is a great at home option to keep your skin looking fabulous between treatments! Be sure to check out my YouTube video on how to do that! It can also be used to treat stretch marks, tight muscles and fascia anywhere in the body, to tone up the breasts, and to massage the scalp.

I love the working the neck so much! The neck is a major passageway between the Face and body and we tend to hold so much tension there. When I work the neck, I feel tension releasing, the skin getting softer and healthier, and even see puffiness drain out of the face. Often times, I’ll work one side of the neck and hand my clients a mirror to show them the difference not only in the neck tissue but also in the entire face. Puffiness disappears, the skin is brighter, and a healthy glow appears!

Using the Mini Yin Rake to drain puffiness around the eyes, disperse discoloration, and drain the sinuses. This tool is gentle, but powerful. Yin tools are calming and hydrating. Great for draining, dispersing (age spots, moles, puffiness), and hydrating the skin. The mini rake is also perfect for finding specific reflex points, relieving hot flashes, and working reflex zones. Want to know more about how you can use these tools on your face? Reach out. I would love to set up a consultation. If you’re in Denver, attend a class or book a Face & Neck Rejuvenation Treatment. You can experience the deep relaxation that #facialreflexology brings!

Sometimes I love the set up just as much as the facial. Setting up my potions and tools always has a way of putting me into a calm and peaceful headspace before a facial.

Ahhhh! A fresh perspective and spin on my work path after my journey with the hubs and youngest babe last week. My biggest realization during the Laurel Retreat was that vacations serve a purpose - a big one. This holiday from home and office brought me full circle. ... At the retreat I attended a session called The Shift, lead by @fionaharlow. I loved the way this woman carried herself...the way she entered a room, genuinely greeted people and walked confidently alone in the evenings after a long day of sessions. Fiona joked about having the floors perfectly cleared during her sessions as she did not want trip on the rogue water bottle or crumpled blanket. Yet, I wondered, “what could I learn from her? She is a bodyworker and I am here to learn about skincare.” Massage and bodywork was something I was trying hard to move away from due to the extreme burnout that has sunk in of late, not that I regret at all my professional development in the last decade. During her class, Fiona had us form a circle and asked us to share our story. Many people had long and detailed narratives, some very personal and heartfelt. However mine was short and sweet... massage exhausted me and I was over it, but @laurelskin gave me a sense of purpose...and that was skin care. That was the ‘a ha’ moment. Massage and skincare have and will always be one and the same for me and my clients... and a cornerstone of my practice. ... For the last few years I have been trying to mold myself into doing clinical/results-oriented skincare. But I found out that I can actually produce positive change with my own hands and the right nurturing products. We CAN make a noticeable change and difference in our skin through massage and quality skin care. I invite you into my treatment room to experience this. ❤️

Welcome to Wholistic Esthetics. Swipe left to see them all, with a little surprise at the end . My current favorite facial combo... . Connective Tissue Massage (for fascia release, opening, and sculpting). . @yakov_gershkovich Facial Sculpting technique (for lifting and sculpting) . Warm Thai Poultice (for lymph drainage and sculpting) . All of the above are EXCELLENT for majorly releasing jaw tension as well, btw. . And @laurelskin whole-plant Abundant Harvest customized masks (for deep hydration, prebiotic skin food, lymph drainage, and supportive exfoliation) . . HOW do these all work together; WHY do we do them; WHERE to learn; HOW to transition to this skin philosophy; HOW to learn this skin philosophy as a new Esthetician; HOW to know how to bring it all together; HOW does this benefit the skin equally, or greater, than conventional skincare; HOW do I find someone in my area who practices skin care in this way; ....? . I receive these questions ALL of the time here on IG. A solution I created to this (and SO much more, BEYOND excited to tell you more) is coming next month. See last slide for a little clue . . Thank you to @zavyalovagala, @skinbyjb, and @yourbeautymagician for the great videos/pics. A great photographer is top on my list for 2019 as well. . . . . . . . #beautyinandout #beautyfromwithin #botanicalfacial #organicbeauty #organicesthetician #botanicalfacialist #botanicalesthetician #estheticianlife #estheticiantraining #holisticesthetician #wholistic #wholisticesthetician #wholisticskincare #radicalfacialist #radicalfacialistmovement #biodynamic #mindfulbeauty #consciousbeauty #skinCARE #skinwellness #esthetician #estheticianschool #kindbeautymovement #organicskincare #wellnessesthetics
