Would you believe that this amazing lady playing the piano here had to be bribed in so many ways from age 2-8 for her to practice. Now she gets in trouble for being at the piano past 11 o’clock at night. Once I remember her saying, “Mum, I can’t stop playing, it’s like the piano is another limb on my body, it’s like I breath music.” She continued by saying, “ I can’t imagine my life without music. I think about it 24 hours and I dream of symphonys, is that normal mum?”I’m posting this photo because today Cleopatra said thank you for making her play when she didn’t want to and didn’t know better and could not see the bigger picture. „Ist doch nicht so schlimm!“. Einer der Sätze, den ich immer wieder höre. Ein Kind fällt hin, aber es hat nur einen kleinen Kratzer am Knie. „Ist doch nicht so schlimm!“. Einem anderen Kind ist der Keks zerbrochen. „Ist doch nicht so schlimm!“. Ein wieder anderes jammert, dass es ein Pflaster bräuchte bei einer Wunde, die so klein ist, dass sie gar nicht zu sehen ist. „Ist doch nicht so schlimm!“. . Wir können uns eigentlich unendlich glücklich schätzen, dass es für unsere Kinder das Schlimmste ist, wenn ihnen ein anderes Kind die Schaukel vor der Nase wegschnappt oder das Eis herunter fällt. Verglichen mit dem, was viele Kinder tagtäglich erleben müssen, geht es unseren Kindern wirklich gut. Und ja, perspektivisch ist das, worüber sie jammern, wirklich nicht so schlimm. „Spätestens wenn du heiratest, ist es vorbei.“ - das stimmt. Und doch: Was wissen wir darüber, wie schlimm etwas für unser Kind ist? Das eigene Leid ist immer das Schlimmste, das geht auch uns Erwachsenen so. Und wenn es dicke Tränen über Kleinigkeiten geht - dann geht es meist eigentlich um etwas, das viel tiefer liegt. Das zu bagatellisieren, kann unseren Kindern auf Dauer das Gefühl geben, dass ihre Empfindungen nicht stimmen. Dabei ist es so wichtig, auf sich selbst hören zu können. . Also lasst uns lieber fragen: „Wo tut’s denn weh?“ oder „Brauchst du eine Umarmung?“, statt unserem Kind seine eigenen Gefühle ausreden zu wollen. Und lasst uns das „Ist doch nicht so schlimm!“ verlagern. Weniger davon bei den kleinen Wehwehchen, mehr davon bei den kleinen Ungeschicken. Wenn Kinder aus Versehen eine Tasse zu Boden werfen oder ein Glas verschütten, wenn Pipi in die Hose geht oder die Hose an den Knien wieder durchgeschubbert ist, brauchen sie keine Beschämung, sondern liebevolle Hilfe dabei, es wieder in Ordnung zu bringen. . Tassen kann man kitten oder austauschen, Wasser kann man aufwischen. Aber ein geknicktes Selbstbewusstsein (im Sinne von bewusst Sein), eine gestörte Selbstwahrnehmung zu flicken, das kann ein Leben lang dauern. This week we spent lots of time outside, and in our pool almost every night once the clock turned 5 o’clock, had the best time celebrating my sister at her bachelorette party in San Clemente, and enjoyed the sunshine at the beach. REAL TALK :: I’ve only taken both girls to the store with me 3 times since Amari was born. Mostly because it makes me feel too anxious and overwhelmed. I took them both to Target with me last week, and both were completely losing their shit. We see all these things online saying oh if you see a mom with a toddler flipping out offer her some support or words of encouragement because we’ve all been there. But in real life, people just roll their eyes and judge. A woman in the checkout line goes “ohhh I didn’t realize you had TWO screaming” Yup lady I do, thanks for pointing it out. . . A few days ago I took them both to the farm to go strawberry picking and we had the best time. A lady there with her grand daughter offered to help me several times and at the end asked if she could take our picture. Considering I have next to no pictures of me and the girls, and after what it took for me to get out of the house with them to begin with, it meant a lot.
