The quickest nine months of my life. Lennon Lou you are not just a ray of sunshine, you are the whole dang sun. You laugh all the time, you wave and clap your hands, and you say “dada” despite my encouragement to say mama . You don’t seem to be in hurry to crawl and you don’t have any teeth. Today I watched a very moving speech by Angela Eagle, one of the MPs here in UK, this morning. She was addressing one of this disgusting arguments that has reared its ugly head this year, about whether or not LGBTQ+ should be covered in schools. The fact that parents protested their children being “exposed” to this completely horrified me when it made the headlines. And it made me actively educate Livvy on Pride, the importance of Pride, LGBTQ+ and why it’s okay to be different. . Livvy is only 7, I didn’t get too deep but I covered the basis and why celebrating Pride is very important to the LGBTQ+ community. I ordered these two books, “This Day in June” by Gayle E Pitman & “King & King” by Linda de Haan & Stern Nijland to help me illustrate things. For Livvy, love is love. When we first talked about it she said “everyone should get to be happy” and she’s right. I’ve brought her up to know that everyone is different but underneath, we’re also all the same and we’re all human. . It horrified me that there are parents out there who don’t want to teach their children tolerance. We should be trying to raise a kinder, better generation, not going backwards. As a parent you should be actively encouraging your child to be a good person, and that includes preaching equality. If you against this, I see it as you’re doing your child and others a disservice. .
