raise your hand if this sounds like you ‍♂️‍♀️ (me right now) __ our minds can be LOUD before bed. we start thinking about our daily schedules, our never-ending list of things to do, our future, & even something awkward we said to someone in the 7th grade... __ so how can we quiet our anxious thoughts? __ 1. do a self-care practice before bed (examples: journal, take a warm/hot shower, meditate, draw or color) __ 2. check-in with yourself: how do I feel in this moment? what am I thankful for? what is making me feel down? what brought me happiness today? is there negativity that I can cut out of my life? __ 3. when you lay down, do a body scan. bring awareness to each of your body parts, one-by-one, starting with your toes & ending with the top of your head. breathe. __ 4. remind yourself that it’s okay to not have everything figured out. it’s okay to have no idea what you’re doing. it’s okay to be where you are in this moment. you’re doing your best. __ : @kaydenhines

DAY 100 ✨ I wasn't sure whether to post this or not, as I'm trying to live my life on a need to know basis on social media but I think there might be someone out there that needs to know NOT DRINKING IS AN OPTION. This has only taken me 23years to work out. I may have drunk less than you, I may have drunk more than you, to have a problem with alcohol isn't measured in amounts or if you can make it to work or not. It is the decisions you make, the way you guilt trip yourself for wasting, your day/week being hungover, the amount of money you spent, the amount of junk food you consumed. The ongoing fear of what you may have said or wondering who you offended. Generally believing you are shit and every shitty thing you have ever done haunts you at that moment. Celebrate- drink Had a bad day - drink It's raining - drink It's sunny - drink It's my day off -drink I had my hair done -drink I have lost absolutely nothing by stopping and gained everything, from new hobbies to new like minded friends, a husband who's drinking habits have also changed dramatically, happier dogs, a love of exercise, a whole new social life, new eating habits, most of all I actually quite like myself these days, I'm no longer having hour long conversations in my own head about what someone may or may not be thinking about me or telling myself I'm a terrible person for one reason or another. I have been lucky enough to have a tight heart shaped group of support around me throughout the start of this journey. Meditation, groups, books, therapy sessions, sober Instagram accounts have all helped me hugely get me to today, it's not easy, especially as you need to get the core reasons for your behaviour but it is so freeing to know your not a bad person you are just a person. There is a whole exciting world out there I had no idea existed and I'm so proud to be part of it. I urge anyone else who can relate to this, who feels anxious, who feels depressed, the alcohol and or drugs is just a temporary escape but it makes these feelings amplify. You CAN change your lifetime habits, you have the right to happiness. YOU ARE GOOD. YOU ARE ENOUGH. Check the tags for recommendations

Gaining muscle and shedding body fat are two ways of improving body composition. However, the steps to accomplish them are a little different. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ In order to gain muscle, your resistance training will be top priority. You need that stressor in the gym to stimulate muscle growth. Of course, you should make sure you’re eating enough calories and protein to build lean body mass. How big of a calorie surplus you want to be in will depend on how fast you want to gain muscle vs. how much body fat you’re comfortable putting on. The greater the surplus, the faster the muscle gain, but that also comes with more body fat. Conversely, if you have a smaller surplus, you’ll be able to keep the body fat gain to a minimum, but that means the muscle growth will be slower as well. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Shedding body fat requires a consistent calorie deficit first and foremost - no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Make sure your nutrition is dialed in, or else you’re just spinning your wheels. Then, lift weights on a regular basis to help retain as much lean body mass as possible (so you’re not losing both fat and muscle when dieting down). ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Both processes require a heavy dose of patience. Gaining muscle is actually a much slower process than shedding body fat, so try to set some performance goals in the gym and expect to see changes over the course of several months and even years rather than mere weeks. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ What if you want simultaneous muscle gain and fat loss? This is known as body recomposition, or recomp for short, and the best candidates for this are those who are obese, beginners to training, coming back from a training hiatus, or on steroids. However, you can still make this happen as a non-obese, seasoned natural lifter who’s been working out consistently. Eat at roughly maintenance calories, get in enough protein, and be super diligent about resistance training. Make it a point to gain strength in the main compound movements. Again, this process is super slow, but it may be worth it to you if you don’t want your bodyweight to fluctuate much throughout the year. ⁣ Repost @soheefit

Sometimes we can feel trapped by our circumstances. We might crave more for ourselves. We may feel the cards weren't dealt right or we got the short end of the stick when it came to life. Some people may be luckier than others. I used to be so upset with my situation. Losing my mom in my early 20s and being left to take care of a father with dementia. It was hard for a long time. But I didn't let it corner me. It doesn't define me. I am no longer "girl who's mom died" or "girl with sick father"... I'm Suezawn. I'm a girl who's made life what she wants. I am strong. I am positive. I seek good. I care deeply for my friends because they are my chosen family. I didn't let the sadness that life dealt me overtake my being for too long. Trust me, I felt it...but I fought it and I won. Yes, I don't have much family out there, and I am alone in many senses, but I don't let that bring me down. I make sure to see friends everyday. I make sure to take care of myself... whether that means a workout, a nice meal, a massage, or being kind to myself and allowing those days where I just can't face the world. Everyday is a new day and things are temporary. I am trying not to get so fixated on the little superficial details but rather remember that overall, I am alive, I am breathing, my body can move, and I am so grateful I chose life and I'm here to stay to feel it all. If you ever feel stuck or defined by your circumstances... please remember, you do have the power to change and rewrite your story. It takes time, patience, community, and hard work, but YOU got this. . . . . . . : @sarahavfiol #soberfitvegan #gratitude #sober #artist #recovery #growth #vulnerable #strongwoman #strength #thankful #nyc #powerful #strong #selfcare #babe #vegan #spring #manhattan #sobernyc #flowers #wegotthis #newyorker #newyorkcity #yolo #springtime #artist #rewriteyourstory #loveyourself #recoveryisworthit #kindness
