Tank looks cleaner every day! changed my bulb combo again. Now I’m running 4 Blue Plus 2 Aqua Blue Special and 2 Coral Plus.. have to say I like it!

Six day work weeks starting to take a toll on Thunderdome. It’s funny how much algae can grow when nutrients read zero - and their growth is possibly part of the blame! You can see some GHA streaming off the glass scraper - it seems to really love that texture. Also have a clump of bubble algae stuck to two of the wavemakers, along with two frag plugs. To top it off, spotted some tissue recession on two acans last night. Trying not to do too much at once, but here’s the game plan:

▶️ FEED the tank more. Every time I’ve been consistent with feeding Phytofeast, my montipora seem to color up better, have better PE, and have growth spurts. Will be looking into adding other foods to the mix.
▶️ FEED the acans. It’s been awhile since I’ve done any target feeding, and I definitely believe it helps them recover from stress and ailments.
▶️ Dose nitrates back to 1-2ppm. I’m notorious for melting zoas, but they seem happiest when NO3 is detectable. Acans are fluffier, sticks have better PE - the system just seems better.
▶️ Remove frags with bubble algae, scrape it off and treat with peroxide. Soak wavemakers in a vinegar/peroxide/RO bath.
▶️ Water change - 10% every 3-4 days. May seem counterintuitive with low nutrients, but I’m a fan of heavy in, heavy out. Refraining from WC has never helped raise nutrients anyway, so I’d rather know that I’m keeping things fresh while continuously adding in the good stuff.

And that’s about it! Reefin’ ain’t easy, as they say. We’re pretty used to challenges with this tank, so taking it all in stride. Homies with the bigger tanks, please tell me they are lower maintenance.
