As I’m getting ready to get my Reiki Masters certification, I’d like to introduce to you what #reiki means. ✨⁣ ⁣ Reiki is a Japanese term for Universal Energy/ Life Force. It was founded by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 1900’s. In Sanskrit, it is known as “Prana” and in Chinese - “Chi," Yano, the stuff that martial artists like Bruce Lee & Shaolin Temple Monks utilize to break bricks with their bare hands and run across water? ⁣ ⁣ Yeah well I’m not saying I can do all that, but basically the cultivation of this form of Energy is. Very. Real! ⁣ ⁣ *Side note - monks eat a vegan diet when practicing because it is truth that foods contain “Chi” and can therefore interfere with our energies. ⁣ ⁣ When people come together with intention and purpose, pragmatically speaking - sh*t gets done, am I right? ✔️⁣ ⁣ Well, for this form of energy work, the intents and purposes of the healer/ practitioner is to channel Reiki to balance and heal the receiver through their spiritual body aka the Chakras. Asides from our physical bodies, we also have mental and spiritual bodies. Through opening and balancing of the Chakras & removing blockages (that occur throughout childhood development and let’s face it, life), we can be better equipped to manage our minds, bodies and spirits to live a more harmonious, peaceful & joyous life. ⁣ ⁣ Generally speaking, each of our 7 main chakras develop in 7 year increments but, there’s much more to this than I can begin to explain. For example, your 1st chakra, the root chakra can be blocked because your basic needs of safety and survival were not met.. say if your parents were separated during this time and you therefore began to see your environment and the world as unsafe (remember, this can be unconscious conditioning). ⁣ ⁣ As my acupuncturist said (and he is Chinese) - westerners do not understand how acupuncture, meridians and energy works - but it does. ‍♀️⁣ ⁣ Did you know, Acupunture was illegal in the U.S. up until the ‘70s? It is my belief that Reiki will soon be mainstream like Yoga and other eastern philosophies.
