Took our number one son to the showdown on Saturday night. • • What started as a family event to the footy ended up being a date night for lucky one boy and his parentals. • • How nice is it to spend time one on one with your children! Its not only nice, but so important and kinda necessary. • • We have such crazy busy lives, sometimes it’s difficult to find the time to enjoy each other’s company. But one thing we have consciously made an effort to do this year is regular date days with each son, one on one. • • They need mum and dad time, they need mum and son time and they need dad and son time. TGIF!!! Which, of course, means nothing when you’re a parent, wife of a shift worker [as opposed to ‘shit worker’ as my autocorrect tried to make me write] & a freelancer, but you know. ‍♀️ ⁣ After the most EPIC exercise session [cycling up and down a mountain multiple times in every element Mother Nature could throw at me] yesterday [as you would have seen in my stories, because I’m multi talented and can story and ride and also freeze to death simultaneously] I ended up eating all the food last night [ and and ginger ale.. does anyone else like ginger ale? Or is that just me & like all the over 70s at the bowls club], so who’s the real winner here? Me. ⁣ ⁣ So if you’ve been following along my crazy journey this past year, you’ll know that this week is going to be particularly difficult for me with the anniversary of the passing of my mum, who I adored. I’m determined not to be a complete mess [altho tell that to my husband when I was weeping in the car yesterday to that new Guy Sebastian song], but I may get a little bit MOODY. My good friend @sayhellojo who I have only met once but I felt kindredly connected to, told me I should find a word for the new year. Something that resonates with me and sparks a fire for me. A few came to mind.. like FUCKTHISSHIT and THISISBULLSHIT but when I really thought about it there was a word that was sitting in my belly like last night’s pizza, and that word is FREEDOM. ⁣ ⁣ That’s what I want for this year. Freedom to be me. Freedom to not only be who I am but to celebrate it! Freedom to laugh and love and feel happiness. Freedom from worrying what people think of me. Freedom to believe in myself and know that I CAN do it [whether that be ride up a mountain or eat an entire block of chocolate in one sitting]. Freedom to wear my hair up, exposing my giant forehead without hiding it behind a sweeping side fringe. Freedom to look back and laugh, freedom to look back and cry. ⁣ ⁣ So, here’s a pic of my son.
