How much time would you give your averagerage child to start learning to walk? They usually walk around 12 months right? What if it doesn’t? You would wait a little more I’m sure. What if it’s now 14-15 months and the child is still not walking? What you do then? • • I guess you’d still have faith and get him to keep trying , right? It’s about 16-17 month now, and still not yet there... • • My point is, how long would you wait till you’d say “stop trying, you’ll never walk!” I can hear some of you say “you crazy? I would never say that. I would get my child to try over and over till he/she walks!” • • That’s right, you would tell him\her to get up, to keep trying and you would have all the faith in the world that he/she will eventually stand up and walk. • • Why do YOU stop trying? Why are you afraid of trying something new? Something that you really would love to do? Why does failure feel like a life sentence to you, and stops you in your track taking the last wind of your sails? • • Why do you care so much if someone sees you fall and instead to get up and show your strength you self defeat yourself realising later that no one was looking after all, and even if they did they eventually fell themselves also? • • Remember that YOU ARE that child. The one that tried over and over. already missing the leisurely 3 hour long dinners i had in italy. in america, we prioritize productivity + work rather than connecting and slowing down. we work later, and longer hours. we eat more meals in our cars and eat more fast food. we can all learn something from the way europeans do dinner. when i’m at a restaurant in california it’s not uncommon to see most tables on their phones. a family, or couple sometimes not even talking the entire meal. sharing the experience of meals together are vital opportunities to connect with each other and consequentially increase our level of happiness + well being (so much research on this). ‍❤️‍ next time you’re out with a group, propose this rule: every person stacks their phones in a pile in the middle of the table. no one lets one another reach over to sneak a peak at their notifications. afterwards, check in with yourself to notice if you feel any different, or if you enjoyed the time spent more than if you had access to your phone. let me know in the comments if you already implement this when out with friends, or if you would be willing to bring it up with that one person who’s always on their phone (we all have that one person).

If you talk every day, you are already practicing affirmations. Every word you speak is an affirmation, a statement. Affirmations help us to flip the switch and begin speaking in the direction that we actually want to go. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ In order to help relieve your depression faster, you will want to make affirmations a daily routine. Do them as often as you can. As with most things, they will seem hard to to believe in the beginning. Especially if you are suffering with severe depression. Gently persist, and I promise you - it gets easier in easier the more you do it. You should aim to remember your top 1-3 affirmations even upon waking up in the middle of night. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Write down these positive and loving affirmations on a piece of paper, and repeat them out loud as often as you can throughout the day. Repeating them as you look in the mirror is 100x more powerful, but you don’t have to if you struggle with self-acceptance at this stage. I know it’s hard.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ - I accept and love myself unconditionally⁣⁣⁣ - I am enough⁣⁣⁣ - I am strong ⁣⁣⁣ - I only allow healthy and loving relationships into my life⁣⁣⁣ - how I feel matters so I focus on things in life that make me feel good⁣⁣⁣ - I am in control of my thoughts⁣⁣⁣ - I love who I am / I like who I am⁣⁣⁣ - I love who I am becoming / I like who I am becoming ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ If you struggle with self-love, choose words that are beginner level. Instead of saying “I love who I am”, start with “I like who I am”. With time you can switch it to “I love who I am”. Give yourself time, self-love and healing from depression is a long journey where you need to be super gentle with yourself and at the same time kick your own butt just a little. ⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Which affirmation speaks to you? My all time fave is , then . I still use them, especially in emotionally challenging times. Self-care never ends.
