I CALL THIS: ‘THE GOBLIN’
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
I caught a stomach bug and was and ’ing everything I’ve ever ingested back out. It’s meant our trainings the last couple days have had to be super chill. Which sucks cos we were kinda on a roll, but on the plus side it means we get the time to play around and come up with new things. ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
So if you need help being creative, I suggest food poisoning.

Inspired by something we saw @abe.froman.acro and @joolsghouls do in Costa Rica.

SOMETHING THATS NOT INHERENTLY OBVIOUS ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
Whenever you move from low L-Basing to Extended L Basing, the flyer changes plane. They have to travel backward and forward as well as up and down. ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
How do we do this? The base needs to make subtle adjustments to the angle of the wrist and where they are applying pressure to help guide and manipulate the flyer through that change of plane.
The flyers feet act almost like gyroscopes working to keep their weight on top of them and in the right place. ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
I’ve heard some people encourage the flyers to lean forward or backward to create the movement needed to change planes. We don’t like this as in Hand to Hand we want to encourage fliers to leave the balancing to the base and be as ‘un-in charge’ of their balance as possible. The base is responsible for balancing everywhere else, so why would it be different here? ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
Being able to ‘deactivate’ your instinct to balance yourself and control what’s happening is a crucial part of being a flyer. This exercise is a great place to practice that.
@ahniradvanyi !!!
Every part of this process brought me such joy. Scouting locations, Fantasizing about shape, Putting ink to paper to bring visual to that form, figuring out how to shoot this without a photographer, and then sitting at my desk taking turns working on the file. Such a dreamy experience. I’ll be counting the days until our next opportunity to create again. Not actually, buy at least in my fantasy I’m counting days. So much gratitude for you!
Doing this for the first time since Divine Play this past weekend in Austin!
We learned this a couple of years ago, but were always too scared to do it without spots - until we learned how to break it down into component parts - and then it was easy! ♥️
Other skills are the same and that’s why we always (and almost only) work the foundations - once you have them down, putting things together are a lot easier than blinding places random pieces together. Not just in practice, but in life! Work the foundations of a relationship (trust, communication, support) and whatever comes up you can always work through ♥️ Thanks for always catching me when I fall babe Wearing all @aloyoga @duo_rnr
Girl. Power. One of the most common questions we get asked is “How do you get into that?” We aren’t sure if people are just curious, or actually want to learn - Swipe to see how we got into this and let us know - should we make tutorials on here, or would you just like to see more behind the scenes like this?
