The world allowing me to teach yoga on a daily basis is an honour? I am only a teacher if there is a student to teach, someone who wants to listen. A lot of our students look to us for something more for a light or a way to greater existence. It is not us that are claiming to be anything in teaching this practice, we are simply leading by example in the ways that the practice has served for us thus far, we are sharing our story on how we have understood and continue to understand this magical practice. Sometimes in the form of pure physical pleasure and cleansing, sometimes in art and poetry that expands our mind, sometimes in theory and thought on how and who we are... Our role is to stay humble, kind and open in every moment of sharing, to see all with kind eyes (as one of my teachers always says) to share all without fear, to always take the seat of the yogi, in allowing the room to go where it needs to go not where I need to take them. The world allowing me to teach helps keep my own path connected helps keep me on the path of my own learning and discovery. Just a few morning thoughts on teaching yoga, for those who yoga is fairly new to this will sound dramatic and maybe it is but I’m okay with that. The sitting and breathing and moving are huge parts of our practice but they are also lights to show us into the other parts of the practice and self that really start to build a greater existence. I have days when I’m up and days when I’m down but I honestly think due to yoga I have a happier more interesting, inspiring, creative life I’m certain of it.
