Happy Independence Day USA! I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given as a US citizen. I have no idea where I will move after graduation; I most likely won’t return to the states anytime soon, but it will always be my home. I chose to study veterinary medicine internationally for several reasons. If I could do it all again, I would definitely still complete veterinary school abroad, however, I would’ve chosen another university to attend. When applying to veterinary schools, I was too focused on world rankings and not on what services the universities offered their students. Additionally, I didn’t know where I could get real and honest feedback about the universities. Official university social media channels are often crafted to give the best possible impression, but talking to students directly will give you more realistic answers. Thus, I started this page to show my experiences and offer advice to pre-vet students. I’m incredibly grateful for my support network back home in the USA as well as this community of incredible people from all over the world whom are kind and motivate me to be my best. Thank you! Tomorrow’s my first day of clinics and I’ll be starting on large animal surgery ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Four years ago, I would’ve never imagined that I’d want to be working in the large animal hospital, but here we are My school requires you to pick a specific “track” and I initially thought I’d be small animal only but I decided I wanted to track mixed animal. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For the next three weeks I’ll be rocking polos, khakis, this belt of tools/items, a stethoscope, and probably some other things ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ve been waiting for this year since the first week of vet school and I can’t wait to learn and start connecting the dots from the past 4 years. Here's a quick guide to normal vital signs in dogs and cats. Though they can be slightly lower or higher, these are the values we will typically see in the hospital setting. Pulse and Respiration Rate especially can be a little elevated and still be completely normal if the pet is stressed from being in the clinic.
