Day 11 of the #ShakeUpYourWakeUp Challenge . . . Sun Salutations are to yoga what push-ups are to strength training. Every time you practice, there they are! Sun salutations originated as a morning practice to line up with the rising of the sun. I like to do a few sun salutations in the morning because it is an excellent way to open the body and create energy for a new day. Plus, when you first wake up, your digestive system is clear from any “interruptions.” ☀ . . However, sun salutations are great any time! Really! They can be used as a “stand alone” workout; as a preparation at the beginning of a yoga practice; or even as a post-workout stretch. It all depends on how you choose to practice. They help you warm up your muscles and joints, they make you stronger, burn calories, and feel great! . . How do you do one? Sun salutations are simply a series of poses in which you move fluidly with your breath. In other words, you inhale into one pose then exhale to the next. In that sense, it allows you to move at a moderate pace so you can enjoy the stretch, but fluidly enough to keep you in a rhythmic motion. SpaceEaseLove. . New intentions for February. This January flew by and, to be honest, felt pretty unstructured and out of my control. I didn’t manage my time or prioritize my health. I thankfully planned a getaway for Feb 1st, which, now that I’m back, gave me the reset I didn’t know I needed.Then I woke up to today’s snowy day, which has gifted me a whole morning with nowhere to go and “now here” to be ☺️☕️‍♀️ It’s amazing how just a little space makes such a difference! This morning I’m grateful I had space to recommitt to my practice, my health, and my heart ❄️ . Thanks @kalectic for my new yoga pants! Loved that Warehouse sale

There are 24 hours in a day, that’s 1440 minutes. Some days it feels impossible to fit time in for my health, but all I really need to commit to are a few minutes to get me pumped up or out of a funk! Here is a little example of a 60-second exercise that you can do almost anywhere. Even Opie can’t get in my way . It’s a fun one to build up to (maybe one day I’ll be able to do 20 in a row?!). I’m sharing it because my friend @mvl0522’s video inspired me to stop, drop, and “zombie handstand”! Go get some deep inhale/exhales and fire up your body! I support you!
