On a hill overlooking the Dordogne Valley lies the village of Domme. And they make wine. But why don’t you know about it? Because in order to get their wines to other parts of France, and the world, they used the Dordogne River, which runs through Bordeaux. Bordeaux could only be bothered to ship their wines and not others sooooo, the wines of Domme are only the wines of Domme. They still make wine, only have about 17 producers today. I couldn’t think of a better way to indulge in my first ever bottle of @redcapvineyards #cabernetsauvignon than enjoying a #girlstrip in #utah with @wine_beneath_my_wings at her beautiful cabin. Amy’s charcuterie skills are on point, and her @mattharris001 cutting board is the perfect accessory! I bring the wine, she makes the charcuterie spread. Are you a fan of Tempranillo? . . Tempranillo is widely grown in Spain, Portgual, Argentina, Australia, and the United States. Wines made from Tempranillo are usually full-bodied and is easy to find in your local stores. Today we wanted to share with you a New World Tempranillo: Truchard 2013 Tempranillo. . Producer: @truchard Truchard Vineyards is located in Carneros where they grow many grape varieties including Roussanne, Zinfandel, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, and many more. Truchard had sold their grapes to local premier wineries for many years and later started producing wines under their own label in 1989. We visited Truchard in 2015 and had a lovely tour and tasting experience. Tours and tastings require a reservation and are only conducted Monday through Saturday. We highly recommend a visit on your next trip to Napa Valley. . Wine: This wine has a gorgeous deep ruby color. Aromas were a blend of sweet vanilla, plum jelly, black currant, French oak, and dry cocoa powder. Palate had good acidity, nice tannins that coat the mouth but not overpowering, with more of cocoa powder notes, black fruit, and perhaps some fig and currants. A very nice wine that would be great to serve at any party as it’s a great food pairing wine! Works with all types of cuisines. . We are ready for the weekend ahead – are you? It’s wine Wednesday, and I wanna know, #whatsinyourglass this week? I’ve been drinking a lot of rosé because of all the releases, so I wanted to switch it up to something a little bolder. I grabbed this 2015 Broken Earth Merlot from Paso Robles. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Confession. I spend too long pacing the aisles of wine stores debating what wines to pick out. How I picked out this wine was, I knew I wanted to grab a Merlot under $25. I love Paso Robles, purple is my favorite color, and I thought the name sounded pretty cool. I thought the winery might be located near a fault line with a name like @brokenearthwinery So maybe there is more method to my madness than just a pretty label. Tell me below how you pick out wines in a wine store ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Smelling this one was trippy for me because I swear initially it smelled like smoked meats. I enjoyed how balanced this one was. Sometimes I love wines that can be major fruit bombs (don’t @ me), and this was definitely not one of those. There were flavors of blackberry and cherry that were balanced out by vanilla and a smoky wood flavor, and finally finished with some light, leathery tannins.
