I was walking out of the gym the other day, thinking about nothing aside from how worn out I was. All of a sudden a sentence rang clear in my mind – as in each part, word for word, was so visually evident in my head.  The immense clarity of the moment astonished me, and I knew God was whispering to me. So I listened: ↟ “Life is not about preserving perfection.” ↟ Y’all I literally had just kicked my butt on the stair climber – I didn’t have time for deep though. Why the heck was this coming to me then I needed a nap and lunch! (Chick-fil-a…it happened, no shame) ↟ I still don’t know why such a clear voice poured that into my mind, but I do know this has been something I have been practicing for the last year now – both as a photographer and personally. There is a reason why I love messy hair, dirty dresses, goofy moments, and authenticity in my work – because it is imperfectly YOU and unique to the moments we experience together.  Those are gifts we will cherish and remember – not the clean, polished, dull stills that do not reflect your soul. ↟ We are not meant to be perfect in life, yet why do we aim to achieve it? Why do we try to preserve a perfection that is not us, but only belongs to God? We are not meant to hold such a burden because our souls were not designed to encompass it. So release it! Find blessings in the uniqueness that makes you so beautifully YOU. ↟ Every imperfect inch of you is a gift and whether that is preserved in images or memories, find peace in knowing perfection is not meant for you - that is one of THE greatest gifts because we are reflections of a God who already is.
