I wrote a long ass post last night about how my #ecoanxiety about #climatechange is motivating me to reduce my carbon footprint, but then it all got deleted . So anyway, I rode an electric @limebike 8 miles to the light rail station at the University of Washington to save the god damn planet. I don’t recommend it. . Not the saving the planet thing, that’s totally worth it. I mean, I don’t recommend riding a Lime Bike for 8 miles. Those bikes are NOT meant to be ridden so far. Plus, it cost $8 AND I only burned 146 calories?!? That’s bullshit, my little legs were doing most of the work come ON. . Charlottetown Farmers Market by bike! This market sure is smaller in size and variety than the blessed Kitchener’s Farmers Market, but it has a lot of heart! Small organic farms working the red soils of PEI as hard as they can to yield some truly nourishing food. Such pride! ‍ Juna really liked the goat to pet and the live fiddle music. We joked how so many stalls sold micro-greens. I guess everything is smaller here on PEI! I was delighted to find artisan tofu made in Nova Scotia from PEI soybeans! It was delicious! As always, I planned ahead and packed up all the bags and containers needed for a plastic free market shop. You will notice in the last pic that I did buy quite a few things in plastic, unfortunately they were sold that way and there wasn’t a lot of options overall plastic free and I was so excited to try island produce! I am loving this food wrap that I bought through @loganandfinley (they have a 50% sale today online and in-store!!). It is made of plant-based waxes, not beeswax, which is important to me as a vegan :) :: We haven't used plastic wrap in months thanks to using containers for everything, but this wrap was perfect for covering a baking dish that didn't have a lid. I’ve recently become more conscious of how wasteful I’d been and have started taking steps to reduce my use! Just today I bought some shampoo and conditioner bars from Lush to cut out the plastic containers I would usually buy! I’ve also switched over to a cup instead of traditional menstrual products. I try my best to avoid take out cups and containers and say no to straws whenever I can. I’ve also taken to shopping at more second hand stores for my clothes. It’s a work in progress but I’m proud of the changes I’ve accomplished so far. Please feel free to pass along any tips and tricks you might have! Also, follow @yourecofriend. TRAVEL TIP: Bring your own (Mr Strong) drink bottle everywhere!! I know that it's hard not to buy bottled water, especially in South East Asia where often you shouldn't be drinking tap water. But take your drink bottle where ever you go so that you can refill it at restaurants and bubble taps (filtered water) etc. • I have a clip on mine so that I can attach it to my bag (easier to carry).
