After the rewatch there is so much symbolism’s and meta’s within the episodes like making “sophomore yr a whole new movie and not a sequel” Zoey’s big lesson. Basically, this season is a fresh start of it’s own, not a continuation of s1. I can’t type it all out, this will have to do for now and some of them were pretty heavy handed and obvious so they don’t need repeating. OKAY! “A movie with happy not enslaved Black people in it.” This shadeeee we is free idk why that quote was just so hilarious to me. The meta in that quote is pretty damn powerful tho. The whole 1 hr episode at large is two characters (Aaron/Zoey) paralleling in this stagnant mind set, two other characters challenged them (Luca unknowingly/Anna knowingly) and one of them actually freed herself from her metaphorical bondage. Aka “slavery” reference. Aaron is still stuck in his ways tho.. I guess that’s what Anna is going to be there for, to challenge him out of his self centric mind set. I think but Idk and to be quite honest, I’m not too interested in talking about that. Skipping ahead... Zoey started the premiere with a literal figurative “wig”, that wig was a metaphoric representation of Zoey’s fake/unrealistic expections, and the entire time she had the wig on, nothing went right or was solvable with her and Luca. He even got his hand tangled in it vs. this scene where he plays with her hair and it was all good. Things only really truly worked it’s self out once she literally took off the wig and we see her hang it away. She shed her unrealistic standards for real and attainable ones, “you mean something REAL to me”. The kind that develops beautifully from imperfection to never really perfect but perfect enough for the soul’s nourishment. Likewise, the damaged apartment was a symbolistic representation of their whole premiere sl. Started off damaged but with some attention, reinforcement and care, she was able to get it to the right amount of beautiful. Luca and Zoey are not perfect, they are anything but, however; all the cracks and imperfections is leading them both to continuous growth, tolerance and being more considerate of each other. Compromise is key, as demonstrated in this scene above, they reached it.
