Posting a pic with the carpets I'm trying to point out that this post is going to be about traditions, customs and the way people used to or still live Usually I teach you the language, but I thought the cultural component will be interesting, too. Is it? Would appreciate your opinion on this. If yes, we'll do a series of posts about our life #culturewithksu ⠀ I originally come from Donetsk, which means I'll be telling you about Ukrainian culture, but this also means that traditions might vary greatly from the ones in the Western Ukraine. ⠀ Let's get started then ⠀ Obviously, the photo was taken in Georgia which, as well as Ukraine, used to be a part of USSR, this means we might have some traditions in common. Like carpets, for example In every Soviet house you'd see a carpet on the floor AND on the wall... IN EVERY ROOM The reason is simple: our walls made of concrete are very cold, especially in winter (and winters are cold here, take my word for it!). So, to protect their beloved children and themselves people found the solution how to make floors and walls warmer. Another consequence of this is that we always wear slippers at home! I bet you don't ☺.
