Most injuries aren't a joking matter but mine had me in stitches (insert sting here). . I didn't know what to expect going into this first leg day with my stitches in but I knew I was going to have to sacrifice some weight in order to safely complete my workout. It's possible to train around injuries, it just takes added attention and more thought has to be put into your programming. Anyways, since I can't do barbell RDLs with the stitches in my shin I decided to switch to dumbbells so I wouldn't have to worry about scraping my shins. In addition to that I did them unilaterally (single leg) with one leg propped on a bench, this is great if you have trouble feeling the mind muscle connection in both hamstrings when doing it bilaterally (both legs). Remember form over everything, especially when doing accessory work that requires that mind-muscle connection. I go light on these (15lbs) for high reps (15-20), my focus is not just to "swing" the dumbell across my body but to also bring my arm closer to my chest to allow me to SQUEEZE the crap out of my upper and inner chest! The houses that stand the longest have the strongest foundation. That being said, I'm trying to build a solid foundation for my bench. Last year's struggle was maintaining an even bar/bar path through the whole motion. This year's focus is on building my strength at the bottom half of the lift.
