I am not sharing this to big up my ego! I am just documenting my journey and transition into becoming the me who I can love. I’ve had a real tough couple of weeks and I’ve felt like the world has fallen on top of me. To cope with things my outlet has been the gym since I started my fitness journey last June I promised myself I would stick to it not just for physic but for my mental health as well. These photos are 9 months apart and I am proud of my progress in bettering myself - I feel happier and I feel healthier. To shut myself off from everything and everyone for a couple of hours a few times a week and just refocus my energy and my mind. I want to help others who feel like they have hit rock bottom because you have to stay positive and redirect your attention which is what I’ve been doing. Proof of life! • Went out the other night to meet some of Meg’s extended family for the first time. We had a lovely evening, and it was the first time where someone, outside of the connections I have online, asked me such intimate & thorough details about my life as a trans person. • We talked about when I knew I was trans, how my family handled it, gender-neutral pronouns, what medically transitioning looks like, what’s changed for me through my medical transition so far, my name change, etc. • The moment where I stumbled a bit was around not assuming someone’s gender. I’d love to live in a world, or rather country, where not assuming gender is the norm and using gender-neutral pronouns is the default. But I also know from some MTF and FTM folks that if someone were to use gender-neutral pronouns for them it would bring about dysphoria because they’d feel like they don’t ‘pass’. • Passing as cis definitely isn’t the goal for all, but for some it is really important. So I’m curious from those of you on here... Any solutions that you can think of to stop gendering other humans and keep everyone happy in the process?

2017-2019 #transformationtuesday • I remember that time in 2017 so well. The previous year I had ended a relationship that lasted 8 years. Almost my entire 20s. I had absolutely no idea who I was, and, like most people who divorce, went on to try to become the best version of myself after the breakup. I lost weight, grew out my hair, became a blonder blonde, played with my makeup, and started to date. • Something didn’t feel quite right but I didn’t know what. After years of not really consuming any queer content, I found YouTube’s web series community via a gif of two female characters making out on IG. It turns out that they were from a series called Carmilla, the story about a 300 yr old lesbian vampire who falls in love with her college roommate. • Carmilla (which went on to become a full length film due to its popularity) has an openly non-binary character called LaFontaine played by non-binary actor and youtuber Kaitlyn Alexander. This was my first introduction to non-binary identities and pronouns, and I was hooked. • From here I binged YouTube videos like crazy to try to find more people in this community. I became curious about T. I researched and consumed information at rapid speed, like I had been thirsty for years and suddenly stumbled upon a river. All of the answers I had been looking for were right at my fingertips. • That time on the left was crucial to get me to where I am today because that phase was the beginning of me finding and owning my identity. • If you’re trans or queer, what was the single moment for you that was the catalyst to you figuring out your gender or sexuality? ️‍
