It’s Mr. Turnips GOTCHA WEEK!!! One year ago this week we had put out two traps in the big pitch dark underground garage that Turnip and Gypsy (now Shadow) were existing in. Sleeping and hiding under cars. Dodging the building workers and managers who wanted to “ get rid of” them. Trying to find the food we left every night in different spots so the building folks wouldn’t throw it out. It sucked. The lease was up and if they didn’t get in the traps, we’d shortly have to turn in our keys and be gone. FINALLY on our last run back over, after a week of checking, Cat Daddy screamed, WE GOT HIM!. I thought for sure it would be Gypsy, but it was our flea ridden, cranky, fur missing, mostly toothless senior boy. (The other cat is being cared for by a current tenant who hopes to trap her when they leave) Turnip has blossomed in his safe, clean, well lit garden. He spends his days sleeping on a sunny deck and having long, blinky chats with me, and anyone smart enough to bring him a bowl of chopped up wet food! We love him so much and let him heal and trust at his own pace. Nick was successfully trapped and is currently in a vet's care. He has a serious puncture wound in his neck/chest area, the vet gave him pain meds and antibiotics tonight and he will go under anaesthesia tomor for better examination, possible surgery. He will also be neutered while under anaesthesia. . I don't need help with his vet bills, got that covered now. What I DO need is a place for him to convalesce for a few days so he can heal before I return him to our parking garage, or, even better, someone who can foster a feral for a longer term. . Or even an open-space type shelter that will make efforts to find him a home off the streets, but never, ever let him live out his life forgotten in a tiny cage. He would be happier free to roam in our parking garage than confined to a tiny cage. . The 1st 2 pics are Nick today, at vet and injured in garage. Others show him as the happy, friendly-ish cat he was before being injured, but make no mistake, he is a feral cat, not ready to sit on your lap and get tummy rubs. He might be one day, but for now, I need to find a quiet place for him to chill and heal at the very least until he's ready to be released, or a foster with the patience for a sweet but feral young man. . Please, please, PLEASE help me help find Nick a home, even a temporary one, I don't know that the vet will allow me to keep him there beyond Thursday. Today when da hoomans fed the #feralcats they noticed something different... can you see what it is? It’s a kitten! All the feral cats are fixed so we don’t know where this kitten came from... hoomans tried to get it but it’s SuPURR fast and runs away. They were able to get close to take pictures but could not touch it.
