Let’s talk about insecurities...because let’s face it, we all have them. One of my biggest insecurities is my hair. More specifically, how thin it got over time. When I was younger, I abused my hair. Colored it, put heat on it, got all forms of extensions, you name it. Ironically, my hair loss started when I stopped doing as much to it. I visited several dermatologists and they all told me this wasn’t a result of abused hair. I was told to use Rogaine, try pills, have steroids injected, and finally I was told to get blood work done so I could find the root cause. Multiple tests later and the results were inconclusive. __________ I went to get an IPL facial at a medical spa and the woman was talking to me about PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma). I spent a couple months pondering doing it until I finally pulled the trigger. It was recommended to me to do three sessions, but I decided on two to start with. Disclaimers: may cause infection, may see no results, and any results should be noticed by 90 days from treatment. __________ So what do they do exactly? First they take your blood and put it into a centrifuge. This is a machine that spins your blood really fast to separate your blood into three layers: Platelet-Poor Plasma, Platelet-Rich Plasma, and Red Blood Cells. Then the Platelet-Rich Plasma is drawn up in a syringe and injected into the desired areas of the scalp. __________ I will say..there is a level of discomfort that goes along with this treatment. You will feel some pressure for a day or two and then you’re back to normal. Well, at least that was my experience. This is my hair transformation after two treatments and I plan on doing another 1-2 this fall! I would highly recommend this to anyone who struggles from the same insecurities. #hairtransformation #plateletrichplasma #hair
