“Hydration tower” test run using a small trunk-load of wild rose. Fast, easy, and works great if I do say so myself. Swipe to see the before; but keep in mind this was a quickie test....the receptacles I plan to use are a little bigger. Also, not pictured, large water tubes filled with cascading foliage tucked into the cinder block. It is nice that the ring size works with many easily sourced containers. Seen here, funeral cones, tins from @burtonplusburton, and a random black bucket I acquired somewhere, all stuffed with florists netting. ✨

Not a pretty picture, but an exciting one! I had my favorite local welder make a series of “hydration towers.” Each hoop holds a water receptacle. I mapped out the dimensions of these towers with the 5.5 inch re-usable “versatile container” from @syndicatesales in mind. These 8’ guys can be secured to my chuppah, on the face of my arch, fed onto my heavy baseplates, or strapped to tent poles or any sturdy architectural feature at a venue. I also had him make a few horizontal towers, a few 4’ long towers, and individual hoops on clips that can be attached to any sturdy structure. The 8’ towers cost me $75 each. It’s really satisfying to find solutions to design problems...but it’s a little embarrassing to admit it took me so long to commission these pieces...it was 10 years ago that I first saw this idea at a friend’s wedding in Italy. I encourage you to find a local welder and commission a few pieces that you can design in various ways, and rent again and again. The investment is worth it. One of the items I have for sale at @thelocallife.on.locke are these tiny linen print sets. They come in a pretty vellum envelope with a handmade maple print stand, so no need for framing! I posted a photo late last week of the stands. Definitely make a cute little gift!

Floral pillar, floral sculpture, some sort of floral art object.... I had to make this today, because I had leftovers, and the @cb2 brass toilet paper tower I ordered arrived. Sometimes I just fall in love with objects and I must have them...this toilet tower is such an object. The heart wants what it wants. To make, I rolled up 18” florists netting ( chicken wire ) into a multilayered tube, stuffed it with dry bamboo foliage, secured it, and fed it onto the brass base. The sturdy guys were designed right into the layered wire, the dainties were tubed and tucked in. I’ve no idea if I’ll ever take this one on the road, but it was fun nevertheless. Scroll to see two iterations of this piece, and the brass base. Tell me, do you like 1 or 2 better? Worth doing again, or use this to store ribbons?! ✨ Ingredients: beige carnation, rhubarb flower, solidago, sweet pea, lisianthus, scabiosa, oregano, amaranthus, unripe tomato, scented geranium, and a bit of ditch weed.
