Happy 4th! . This piece was inspired by an IGTV tutorial I came across by @hollymcarlisle from her Essentially Seasonal Design Series for @bbgardens ......Thank you for the inspo!♥️ Inspiration is readily available here in Instagram, but this was one of those rare moments where it stuck hard and was like an itch I had to scratch immediately. However, having just gifted flowers for good friend’s bridal shower, my pockets were, well, empty really- not even a few extra nickels! That meant absolutely No trip to the flower market ...ugh . I turned to my backyard & hot mess of a garden. I thought to myself; well, here indeed is a challenging and bold color palette. It was also a challenging recipe- I have a lot of echinacea and several rudbeckia varieties but not much in the way of showy garden roses or pretty fluffy type things like in Holly’s inspo painting...I had to scratch the itch though...so I cut a few things. About 10 mins in I gave up mentally trying to achieve the beauty I was so inspired by, and resolved to fill my vintage vase with ‘junk’ & stick on the mantle, for no one to ever see and log this as a failed attempt at fulfilling an inspiration. There would always be another chance, maybe, but what if not! . As I went a bit further into the garden (not that far, it’s all of 20x5) I found the Aesculus was blooming and thought, well that could be my branch, I believe spirea, from Hollys inspiration and I felt a bit better about moving ahead. . The end result looks absolutely nothing like the inspo, nor was it ever intended to...I tried to use my yellow blooms to bridge a challenging, and in my case, nearly psychotic rainbow like color palette. I’m not sure I fully achieved that end, but, I don’t hate it —and do I love that every now and then, Insta puts something in front of me that sticks like glue and drives me to push further. . And finally...I don’t name many things i design, but in my head, while I was designing this on the patio table, in oppressive humidity, I just kept hearing in my head... “from the hands of a lunatic, Fireworks!”——hmmmm
