Today marks an important day in food labelling. Natasha’s law has been introduced to make food labelling more thorough.
It comes after Natasha Ednan-Laprouse died in 2016 after an allergic reaction to a sandwich she bought at @pret.
This legislation calls for all pre-packaged food to be clearly marked and carry a full list of ingredients. Not only will this help food allergy sufferers in the UK, but it will also help those who suffer distressing symptoms of a food intolerance. This protects all people in the UK who need to make safe food choices! #foodallergy #allergy #foodintolerance #foodintolerances #epipen #foodawareness #natashalaw #foodallergylife #foodallergyawareness #allergyfriendlyfood #foodallergyfriendly

Three years ago, 15 year-old Natasha Ednan-Laperouse died from unknowingly eating sesame in a baguette from Pret a Manger.
Yesterday, Natasha's Law was passed in England/Northern Ireland to protect people with food allergies, requiring food businesses to include full ingredient labeling on pre-packaged items. "Under current rules, food prepared on the premises in which it is sold ... is not required to display allergen information on the package. The new legislation will tighten the rules by requiring foods that are pre-packed directly for sale to carry a full list of ingredients." In the US, we do not have full ingredient labeling - only for the top 8 allergens. Yet, there are numerous allergens outside of this list, such as sesame, that can cause #anaphylaxis. U.S. needs to get on board.

What are you thankful for when it comes to managing allergies?- I’m super thankful for my mom @rochaturgan but also every single one of my friends. I have amazing people in my life that understand what severity goes into living with allergies (food and environmental)
•
I’m also thankful that my life hasn’t changed as much as let it. I do everything I’ve always done, the only thing I know to do is make sure I have food for myself and be prepared for anything and everything.

What's a food allergy parent to do when she sees allergens lurking around playground equipment? To gain peace of mind, Kim Smith of Cincinnati took action to get allergy-awareness signs installed in city parks.
