**PART 1*** This is a post we been dreading to make as it is very heartbreaking for us to share what has happened to some of our dogs we adopted within the past 4yrs. We strive to do adopt our dogs to great families by doing extensive background checks such as: vet, criminal and personal, not to mention thorough home checks. BBR started the “sleepover” program over 5 yrs ago were approved applicants get to take our dog for 1-4 weeks to their homes so they can make sure our dog is a good fit for their family. We do this for the sole purpose to reduce the chances of our dog being returned, so families can be absolutely sure before committing and signing our adoption contract. We even offer training programs with two great trainers at a discounted rate for dogs adopted within 30 days.We have always made ourselves available by giving our adopters our personal numbers, emails, website and social media info. Sadly, sometimes no matter how much we do to make sure our dogs go to “forever” homes, the lack of commitment, responsibility and care from some of these adopters it’s utterly disappointing and upsetting. We get constant emails and messages asking for help, but unfortunately at this time our intake is close indefinitely due to dogs that were returned to our rescue. In the past few months we have received quite a few dogs back, some of them were adopted over 4 years ago. 1) Halo was adopted when he was 2 months old and returned to us 4 years later because there's a baby in the family and they just can't deal with a baby and a dog. 2) & 3) Petey was adopted 5 years ago when he was around 6 months old and almost a year later his family decided to adopt Layla when she was just 2 months old. She is now 4 years old and both are being returned because they had 2 children within 5 yrs and they can't deal with 2 dogs and kids. 4) Nero was adopted when he was 2 months old and now that he is 3 years old his dad surrendered him to a shelter just last weekend and gave the entire shelter staff a hard time because they were refusing to take him. Not once did he cared that he would be at risk of euthanasia, not ONCE did he contacted us!

Adoption Update!! We are thrilled to share with our followers that sweet Ozzy has found his forever home!! This sweet boy was saved from euthanasia before he was even born. Ozzy is one of 12 puppies that were born to mama Nova and is now having a great life. Ozzy is super sweet and his ears are just the cutest. We are very grateful to his mom Ashley for adopting him and to Diedre and her family for fostering him.. **PART 2** 5) Hayley was adopted almost 4 years ago and was returned to us a couple of months ago because unfortunately her owner didn't know how to deal with her issues and never searched for help or got with our trainers. So Hayley now sits in boarding. She is getting help from one of our trainers so she overcome all the issues she now has and didn't have before. Thankfully she had improved a lot! 6) Willie was adopted a year ago and was returned to us 1 month ago because they were are moving and didn’t realized they wouldnt accept pets. We were only given a few days of notice. Poor willie waited for 2 years to find a home and he is now back to square one. 7) Slate was adopted when he was about 3 months old and returned to us now at 18 months old. His family was desperate to get rid of him so he too sat in boarding until a foster stepped up. After being evaluated, we could tell his family truly never worked with him. Thankfully he got adopted to a great family and his new adoption update is coming soon 8)Mika was adopted when she was about 5 months old and returned to us because her family Just couldn't keep up with her energy level. She is now almost 2 years old and sits in boarding waiting for a miracle. 9) Logan was in a family for almost 2 years and returned to us because they had a baby and his family couldn’t deal with a dog and a baby. Thankfully, we were able to adopt Logan to a great family! It breaks our hearts to know that we trusted all these adopters and they all let us down, but specially some of them who really didn't care at all about the dog they had for 1-4 years. All these adopters signed an adoption contract with specific policies but unfortunately to some of them that contract didn't mean anything when it came down to getting rid of the pet they were supposed to have forever. Don't ever get an animal if you can't commit for life and they are family! You don’t get rid of a family member when things become a little difficult and you have to put more effort and more time. If you are NOT ready for the commitment please don’t get a pet! Animals are not disposable, they too have feelings. BBR Crew

Adopt or Foster sweet Haley! This beautiful blue pittie was adopted from us almost 4 years ago. Sadly, she was returned to us for no fault of her own. When we adopt our dogs we always hope for “furever homes” but sadly that is not always the case. This was very unexpected and surprising for us. Our rescue is foster base and we currently don’t have extra foster homes, especially for dogs that need to be the only pet. Our sweet girl had to go to boarding with one of our trainers. She has been in boarding for over four months. Haley is healthy and LOVES all humans! The right home for her will be one with no other pets as she truly just prefers human companionship! She also needs a family that will keep up with her training, a family that understands the breed and able to establish pack leadership. But most importantly...we need a family that will give her a true #fureverhome as she is now 7 yrs old, but don’t let that fool ya! She is wiggly, fun and full of life! If you can’t adopt at this time, Haley is need of a great foster home. Please open your heart and home to this beautiful girl. Boarding should be short term and it breaks our hearts to know she once had a home and now she is living in boarding. This sweet boy was saved from an abandoned home along with his 5 other siblings and mommy Bella. Cupid is now having a great life with his mom Kathryn, he lives with another dog and a cat which he loves a lot. We will also like to thanks to Guadalupe Cupid, his siblings, and mom had the opportunity to find amazing homes. We will like to welcome Sugarfoots 6 adorable puppies to Brave Bully Rescue! This sweet and gorgeous family was rescued by Aliesha with @huts4mutts and a wonderful Deputy Constable who was caring for mama while she was pregnant and living under a freeway. Her owners were homeless and four days after the puppies were born the homeless couple were selling them on the side of the street for $250 a pup. Thankfully, the couple agreed to surrender them to Aliesha so they could stay with mom and get all the proper vetting and spay/neuter. The sad story behind this family caught our attention and we knew we had to help out in some kind of way. Our intake has been closed due to a lack of committed/ long term fosters and funds, and we know taking a family is very hard and expensive. Huts For Mutts offered to keep them as long as they need to so we could focus on finding great homes for them! They have also kindly offered to help with some of their vetting! ☺️We can’t thank them enough for working with us...it truly takes a village! Mama is getting adopted by a family the deputy constable is working with which makes us super happy as she is a wonderful pittie and deserves the best!BBR will still need to raise funds for the care, future vetting and spay/neuter. We will also like to make a donation to #hutsformutts rescue efforts! They focus on the chained, abused and neglected dogs of Houston Wards by making little huts for them to sleep, supplying food,preventions, spay/neuter and most of all education. URGENT!! Found female blue Pittie in Energy Corridor (Houston, TX) This sweet gal was found by one of our members family member close to her apt complex. When she was found she was full of fleas and skittish. But thanks to their dog they were able to catch her. This sweetie was covered in fleas, hungry and thirsty. They gave her a nice bath, fed her and kept her for the night in hopes to find her owners or a rescue to help. They would love to keep her and refuse to send her to a shelter but they are now in a bad situation because management send them a lease violation letter since Pitties are not allowed at their apartment community. If you are missing your dog and think this is her, please email us proof of vet records, ownership and pictures to info@bravebullyrescue.org. We are trying to help this girl as she deserves to be with a great family and not in a shelter at risk of euthanasia. As you can see she is great with children and seems to be good with dogs.
