Today I drowned out the voices that always tell me I am not good enough and not a good runner. Today I am good enough. Today was perfect. I had a 1 hour PR today and was in the top 15 for females. Everything fell into place from the weather to @thesmartfi being able to volunteer at the race. The climbs were so hard, and I may have prayed a few times. Shortie shorts, long runs & happy vibes! Three weeks into a new stabilization block at 30 miles and I’m feeling super excited on progress. Had an awesome time pacing a few REALLY fast & consistent runners on this week’s Wolf Pack run and I’m feeling inspired. I’m faster than I think, I’m more prepared for high mileage than ever and I feel like I’m making gains in every aspect of this game. Diet is on point with meal preps, up tempo runs are coming easier and my 4/2/1 plan is working smoothly. One full rest day, four planned runs and two strength days a week where I get to lead workouts again. The new normal is feeling right where it needs to be! Post 52 mile feels basically, all the emotions! The #Bighorntrailrun was a wild, muddy, beautiful day in the mountains. I ran the first 40 miles with ease, making friends, singing along to some good jams and just taking it all in. And then for some unknown reason, hammered the last 12 ish miles to the finish completely exhausting myself. It was still fun, but I was a pile of mush in the grass for a few hours. If you had asked me 11 days ago how I felt, I would have said "Fantastic!!" Awash with the accomplishment of doing what I had set out to do. Then I would have waddled away wincing with every step as cramps squeezed and seized muscles in my legs that, prior to that moment, I didn't even know existed. As my good buddy, Jay @jay.wright_ says "Running 80 km will do that to you." And it does. In the ensuing days, however, the glorious endorphins wore off and the magnitude of what I asked of my existence began to respond. Faintly echoing through the depleted chambers of my body, a soft cry of "Fuck this shit!!" I've never napped quite like I have in the past week nor have I eaten with the same voracity. He'd say, "Running for just about 9 hours will do that to you." And it did. Now, I'm pondering "What's next?" There is an itch to go further. A twitch to try it faster. Despite legs which are still not entirely living up to my expectations and a demeanour which is still a little tender, there is already a thirst for more. I can hear him now, "Finding something you love will do that to you." It sure has. You know what else does that to me? All the supportive comments, DM's, reactions and likes.
