When we jump we bend and rise, so we need to reinforce this movement more within our exercises. This exercise has been tweaked to specifically to help encourage this action. To begin with skate this exercise on a hockey circle.

Start with a right back outside three turn, with the weight through the right shoulder and hip. Extend the free-leg and arms so they are directly above the circle you’re skating on.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here’s the important part, make sure bend and press the heal of the skating foot into the circle. Rise up to release the three turn. Make sure you stay up in knee after the turn and fully extend the free-leg in front.

It’s very important not to pull the turn with the left shoulder, this disconnects the hips and shoulder The turn is initiated by the press and release of the skating foot, then the right shoulder driving through.
Now do a tidy right forward inside open mohawk, extending the free-legs to build more strength. You can now push on the right foot again to repeat the exercise. Do this exercise in both directions.

The prerequisite for learning a camel spin is being able to do a forward upright spin and a forward spiral

The key to controlling the spin is to think of generating all of your rotation speed from increasing the depth of the entry edge, then releasing this energy when you extend ankle and knee after the three turn. You can practice this by holding the forward outside edge before the spin.

Make sure when you step forward you have the same arm in front as the skating foot (left for anti-clockwise spins and right for clockwise spins). Do your best to hold a strong forward outside edge spiral, but on a bent skating knee. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀
Hold this as long as you can but keep your the back shoulder behind at all times. Have a strong extended free leg and press towards the baby toe of your skating foot to help control the increasing pressure of the edge.
A common mistake is to use the front arm to draw and pull the spin around. This can cause your spin to travel or miss it completely.
