In the beginning everything was #handmade and there was no beauty in it, as it was the only way how to make anything and even more you had to know how to use your hands, as for majority of the population that was the only way how for survival. Industrial revolution changed everything, era of #standardized production started. That was truly glorious moment for humanity, we invented mechanisms and now they are working instead of us allowing us to eat and dress better, work less and think more. Another process which was fired up in the sky by #industrialrevolution was technological progress and it is not slowing down even after nearly 300 years from that key moment. By #21stcentury we have mastered art of production and along with that we created art of consumption and turned ourselves into society which main purpose is to consume more, that drives our economy, that makes us happy and that gave new birth to anything what is handmade It is extremely hard to #standoutfromthecrowd when everything is mass produced, phones, clothes, jewelry and even #lifestyles Luckily these days creative hand labor is not #cheaplabor people are willing to pay more for something what is not mass produced, for something what was created with love for making things. Consumption society is obsessed with new and shiny things. We don’t repair and we don’t re-use things, we throw away what is still in working condition and get anew version, what is actually the same, but in different wrapping. It’s taken me a long time to truly be proud of my work. I had a rough time in college because my photography professor was very critical of my work - and not in a constructive criticism type of way, it was quite demeaning and disheartening. So when I graduated and went full time with photography, it was hard to find my style, find what fit ‘me’ and I would only show one or two of the BEST pictures to my clients on the back of the camera because I relied solely on the post process editing to make my images look good. But now? These images have no color altering, no photoshop, nothing but some added contrast & sharpness because I finally found a style that works for ME! It’s hard being a traditional photographer in an artistic field right now, but I’m a firm believer that you can be BOTH! I get it right in the camera so my post process workflow is much faster and now, I literally hand my camera to my clients to scroll through the whole session. If you’re a fellow creative, I encourage you to stop comparing yourself to others in your field and don’t let the critics get to you. Find what works for your business and most importantly, what makes your clients happy! I for one, am prettt darn proud of how these turned out! Lemme know what you think of them below ☀️
