I know this probably is not the post you all expected from me today, and honestly I wasn’t sure if I had the guts to post this, it would be way easier for me to crawl into a ball and hide from the world today and trust me I’ve thought about it, but I’ve realized that this platform deserves more than only sharing my best days with you. This platform is about being raw and authentic and allowing us all to grow and be inspired by one another. Yes, I’m shocked, confused, upset but most importantly I am not willing to quit. I know that just because I didn’t match today does not mean that I am a bad candidate but I also know how hard today was for me. If you are like me and did not match to a residency program today, I am here to remind you that you are not alone. In fact 58% of applicants who participated in the match for PGY1 programs this year did not match either, you heard me right over half the applicants did NOT match. This is more common than we think and no one should feel ashamed of this. I have no idea what God has in store for me but I do know that everything happens for a reason and that hope is not lost... I am still graduating with my doctorate in May, there is still Phase II of the match or a million other jobs I could consider... life goes on and I have so much to be grateful for. So for everyone who was disappointed this morning, keep your head high, count your blessings and tomorrow hustle on because failure only happens when you give up!✨ Also, for all of you that did match today, congratulations on your new journey! If you haven’t noticed already, and for all of you asking, no I am not at midyear this year⁉️ I’ve gotten a lot of mixed reactions when I tell people this so I thought it was an important topic for me to discussMidyear is an amazing pharmacy conference and something I definitely look forward to attending as a pharmacist in the future!‍⚕️✨The truth is for me this year it just didn’t make sense to attend and that’s okay! Here’s why: 1. As a P4 student a huge point of going to midyear is the ability to meet and question residency programs you might want to apply to.All the residency programs I am applying to are local. I also am lucky enough to know people at most of these places to personally ask questions as they come up. 2. Presenting a student poster at mid year is an amazing opportunity! However the research I’m currently doing is a longitudinal project that won’t be complete until April so I wouldn’t have much to present but I love the project I’m on and I wouldn’t change a thing! 3. Expenses. I would love the ability to travel whenever and wherever I want but the truth is I’m completely independent from my parents and pretty broke so if I can save money (especially since actually applying to residencies is ) then I welcome it! : The truth is honestly midyear is all for your experiences, so have fun and enjoy it! To all the students there congrats and good luck. I hope your posters go amazing and I hope you meet incredible programs! To all the residents congrats on being on the other side and for all your hard work on your posters! Next year I am hoping to be there as a resident representing a program and I promise I will set up a meet up for all of us to get together!‍♀️

Managed to go the whole year without working on a Saturday... Sadly I had no choice but to do it today to get this system fitted and fired...dammit !! Not normally a huge fan of pre-plumbed cylinders, but time was of the essence on this one and I needed all the help I could get. First time fitting an LG Therma V ASHP as well so a lot of thinking on my feet. But that's what we do innit !! Not bad for a couple of days work I reckon. That's a wrap for 2018.
