O Thiago me marcou nesse post hoje. O vídeo completo tem mais de 6 minutos. Achei muito oportuno com o que falamos essa semana. Foi um vídeo feito por ocasião do mês de abril. Para nós todos os meses são meses de conscientizar. Conscientar nós pais em primeiro lugar, para depois conscientizarmos os outros. Sim muitos olham, muitos não sabem nada sobre autismo. Precisamos ser pacientes. Alguém duvida que o maior ensinamento que o autismo nos trás é: PACIÊNCIA ... paciência essa, que pelo menos para mim, muitas vezes falta muitooo. Falta paciência na hora da lição, da comida, do sono que não vem, da ida ao mercado. Sair com eles é sempre um acontecimento... as tarefas diárias triplamente mais complicadas ... mas ok perder a paciência... eu estou longe da santidade kkkkk mas vamos tentando acertar. A frase mais ouvida quando temos um filho não verbal, ou que verbaliza muito pouco é essa. Aqui ouvia isso sempre. Quantas vezes? Perdi as contas, afinal passei (e passo) pela mesma situação com 3 filhos. A minha resposta é sempre essa também... o meu filho não é o filho do vizinho ou o primo da tia de ninguém. Ele pode sair falando? Pode, mas eu duvido. Não falta só a fala, falta o contato visual, o foco atencional, não obedece ao comando ... Acho tão simples pensar: " se o meu filho não enxerga bem, levo ao oftalmologista, afinal raramente alguém começa a enxergar do nada." O meu filho não fala, tem vários outros sinais que me apontam para algo diferente e eu prefiro ignorar do que ir atrás de um possível diagnóstico. Parece sem lógica. Se for para tentar acertar, melhor fazer em excesso. Ouvir um profissional. Caso não seja nada: ótimo, se for melhor ainda estive no lugar certo, na hora certa. Tão importante quanto ver o mundo é se comunicar (ainda que de forma não verbal). Ah, e se o problema for o medo de ouvir o que não quer, respira fundo e vai com medo mesmo, mas o importante é não se omitir. I’ve had a surge of new followers (thanks @autismdads) so I thought I would do a little ‘about me’I was DX’d autistic& adhd when I was 32 after a non-epileptic seizure while driving. The year before I had seen a psyc for suspected adhd after I was struggling with Uni (third failed attempt at 3rd level). I have embraced my DX& used it to improve my life through sensory management, working on my social anxiety& emotional intelligence, analysing the way I work best& utilising that. It has been over 3 years since DX& I am focusing more on who I am for myself (a unique human, like everyone else, just neurodivergent/atypical)& moving away from the society/medical view of who I am (broken or disordered). Since then I have also been confirmed dyslexic with gifted intelligence. Even though I need a lot of quiet time& inner reflection to stay neutral, I have an outgoing personality once I feel comfortable. I am very affectionate, I love hugs& touch with people that I trust. I am very observant& follow patterns. I follow people’s patterns to find what I call their ‘neutral'& so that helps me know when they are ‘off centre’ because details will change- this helps me be a good friend. I prefer people who have a limited range of facial expressions& tones. I adore people who tell me what they are really thinking, even if it is a hard truth, or even if they torture me by saying that they are not thinking! I am generally playful&childish but I can manage anything once I am left alone to do it. Just don’t interrupt me! I am grateful to have a great support network through my patient & accepting husband, my kids, my family, my quality-over-quantity friends, my taekwondo club, the neurodivergent community here &, of course, my animals I could pass as ‘normal’ if I tried, but it exhausts me& makes me depressed&anxious. Also, I am deliberately out of my autistic ‘closet’ for the children coming up behind me. I want them to grow up& belong in the world& that can happen if society is exposed to our struggles& by asking for adjustments, the world will get used to being more flexible for people who cannot fit easily into the one-size-fits-most systems.
