This program is called “Elephant Mud Fun” and it’s an exciting day packed with feeding the elephants, rolling around in the mud with them and of course washing them at the end! The elephants get a nice relaxing break in the river between activities to make sure they don’t get overwhelmed. The keepers told us they even rotate the elephants around between the activities as not to over work them. The keepers had such a bond with their elephants and during our whole time with them, the elephants were so extraordinarily happy. . . Now, I know people will say “I can never support anywhere that has had a riding program.” We hear your plight, truly. However, there are many many places out there making a lot of money off these programs and MOST of these places REFUSE to make changes or stop what they are doing. So Balizoo absolutely deserves positive recognition for being one of the first “for profit” businesses to STOP THEIR RIDING PROGRAM! The program they are replacing it with, teaches you so much about the elephants and lets you connect with them in such a special and kind manner. I know people will also say “we just want these businesses shut down.” Now that’s just not a very realistic goal. Instead, we need to show “for-profit” businesses that there are better options for their business. They need to see that they can have success in the tourism industry through humane and fun activities with their elephants, such as this one! Furthermore, they should be encouraged that people will support a place willing to make these demanded changes.

В очень красочном месте мы сегодня были - заповедник "Парк птиц" Он занимает площадь 2 гектара, не маленький. На всей территории растёт более 2000 тропических растений из различных регионов и обитает почти 1000 птиц. 250 которых из Индонезии. Так как Парк птиц – это не зоопарк, а заповедник, то большинство птиц обитает здесь не в клетках, а летают на воле. Такой себе контактный парк. Больше всего впечатлили меня розовые фламинго и пеликаны. Ну вот правда, помните в прошлом году был прям бум какой-то фламинго-принт. Они были везде: и на чехлах, и на футболках и даже на джинсах. Не спорю, они смотрятся красиво, а в живую ещё круче. Со мной произошёл тот момент, когда то что нравиться предстало передо мной в живую. На самом деле, для меня фламинго очень похожи на наших аистов, только с розовыми крыльями и все. Ну ладно почти похоже... но блин, какие же они красивые . В парке обитает множество других экзотических птиц с незнакомыми нам названиями. Если присмотреться к некоторым, то можно разглядеть обычного голубя, только с длинным синим клювом или чёрного ворона с зелёным хохолком. Я шутила, что просто произошла селекция между расовыми птичками и вышла такая «цветная красота» . . . . .
