It is one of those motions becoming extinct due to modern lifestyles. The wall is a great position to have this honest conversation with your body. Working on the hard parts of neck CARs. We often skip out on the full extension component of our neck CARs. I love working on the floor or at the wall so we can have a more honest conversation with these joints and access full range. Here the wall is lava and you are trying to keep your head as far away from it as you can. Pro tip: - Make sure you move at all segments in your neck and down to T4 ( especially when rotating or extending) - Keep shoulders down and wide - Press your elbows into the wall You may not like these but once you’ve tried it you’ll realize that they are good for you! #kinstretch #FRC #neckCARs #FunctionAlanatomySeminars #mobilityisearned #biologicalchange

If your body didn’t like 90 90 or any of the modifications suggested in my last post here is a classic regression. Hip external rotation PAILs and RAILs in thread the needle. You can also do this exact same technique sitting so no excuses for not opening your hip on a daily basis. Sit up tall, cross you leg and add your PAILs and RAILs. How is your 90 90 ? Class 5 of a 6 week series and everyone is looking pretty comfy in 90 90. That wasn’t the case on Day 1! Seeing people get better at 90 90 is my favourite things about series. Biological change. Here we have : 1️⃣9090 PAILs+ a passive range hold 2️⃣9090 lead leg kinetic stretch If you find 90 90 horrible and embarrassing pick your modification and keep at it! Options: 1️⃣block under the Leed knee 2️⃣raise the leed leg hip up on a block 3️⃣close the knees in to a shinbox position 4️⃣post out to the side with your arm And if this doesn’t work there are lots of regression like PAILs + RAILs in thread the needle. PULL!!! This is one of my “money moves” for hips. If you have a tight or pinchy hip try this out then retest you hip. Hip external rotation lift off. Set up. Make sure you roll your pelvis forward so you feel a line of tension in the back of the bottom hip and then PULL your foot to the sky like your life depends on it. PULL! 10 sec x 3. As always core needs to be higher intensity than anything else. While I’m talking about adding @functionalrangeconditioning to awesome lines of tension here is another base position I LOVE. This time for the back of the hip. Nice work from my buddy @daveleylandphysio Explore your flexibility but let’s go one step further. Finish off passive stretching with something that brings your nervous system into it. If your nervous system can’t access and control your “flexibility” then YOU DON’T OWN IT. In fact it will create protective tension to control it and that is often why we “stretch” ...feel temporary benefits...then stretch and keep repeating the cycle. So when you find a good line of tension FREEZE and add a #PAILs and #RAILs . 1️⃣irradiate = core and breathing 2️⃣PAILs = drive the foot into the bench for 10 seconds working up to 80% of your max effort 4️⃣RAILs = PULL your foot off the bench ( it may not actually move but the intention is important...and as always core must be higher intensity that the hip intensity) 3️⃣repeat 3x and you will train your nervous system (neuroplasticity)... but if you want to stimulate tissue reorganization hang out for 2 min (biological plasticity) #kinstretch #functionalrangeconditioning #FRC #FRCms #FR #functionalanatomyseminars #movementislife #directionalforce #highintensitymobilitytraining #mobilityisearned #bodycontrol #bodyawareness #mobility #healthyjoints #articularprerequisites #honestreps #dailydoses #biologicalchange #biologicalplasticity #mechanotransduction #neurologicalplasticity
