Feels kind of surreal being here a second time. Graduating with a Master’s degree in a field where not many people look like me. Knowing that all of the late night hours, prayers from family, encouragement from friends and wisdom from mentors have manifested to allow me to keep going... to be great. I thank God for bringing me thus far and guiding me through this life. This is only the beginning. #MasteredIt #MechanicalEngineering #NSBE ✨#blackengineer

When I graduated from Morgan State, I was featured on this page (shout out to them). Along with the slew of weirdo men who rushed to my DMs (), I also received a ton of messages from women across the country and the world who were either interested in entering engineering programs or those who were already enrolled in one. Since the picture was posted, I’ve stayed in contact with a few of them(they were the only reasons I didn’t delete my IG MANY times! Lol) and from our conversations, I’ve realized that a lot of people don’t know what to expect from being in school for engineering or what it’s like to actually be in the field besides the fact that it’s “difficult”, “challenging”, and that if you work in the field you’re automatically seen as some Tony Stark ass person and...NO tf lol. The people who make up the majority of these fields succeed and fit in because they’ve had access and exposure to other people and/or resources in the field and (somewhat) know what to expect. For those of us who make up the minority, this is almost never the case. Social media has shown how easy it is to share information and connect with people near and far; we can literally create the access that many of us didn’t and still don’t have. I think that it’s time that we stop with the performative “everything is perfect because I make good engineering money” mess and start sharing the truths about what it’s like to be a minority navigating through an already difficult field. - - - - - #ILookLikeAnEngineer #WomenInSTEM #WomenInSTEAM #BlackWomenInSTEM #STEM #STEAM #Engineering #BlackEngineer #BlackEngineers #BlackEngineersMatter

"It's honestly an honor and a blessing," he told CNN's New Day. Mosley had set a personal goal of reaching $1 million in scholarships in an effort to "do the best for my school." When the offers started coming in, he said "I wanted to beat a million." "I actually did not know that I received $3 million until graduation," he said. Hardships were never an excuse for Mosley, according to Raleigh Egypt High School principal Shari Meeks, who told CNN that the soon-to-be college freshman always has a smile on his face. Mosley isn't the only member of his family to reach academic highs. His older brother was also valedictorian. Mosley, who at one point was living in a tent, credits his family, friends and all the people at his school for his success. "They have all been a great support to me," he said. In September, Mosley will be attending Tennessee State University where he plans to major in electrical engineering. "As I've been worrying about finances and money for most of my life, to know that I can be doing something that I'm enjoying for my next four years and really ... starting my career off is ... refreshing and motivating," Mosley told CNN. "I can do this with confidence not having to worry about anything else." #LivingWhileBlack #BlackMen #BlackExcellence #BlackEngineers #BlackEngineer

I will be graduating tomorrow with a Bachelors of Science in Neuroscience and minors in Mathematics and Physics! ✨✊ I have had many obstacles to overcome to get to this point that included losing my father at a young age, battling my mental health, being an immigrant in the U.S. and navigating through financing for college. But through these amid stones, I found diamonds. I was accepted into EIGHT graduate programs in Biomedical Engineering as a Non-Engineering major, held multiple roles in student leadership, became a Mathematics and Physics tutor, and continued to represent my community. Success takes a village, Thank you for everyone that helped me get there: Thank you to the University of St. Thomas for providing 4 years of a fantastic platform to build on. Special thanks to all my friends and family that inspire me daily. I could not ask for a better undergraduate experience. This is only the beginning! ✨✨✨ #WeMadeIt #BlackEngineer #Tommiegrad

When Deontae and Deontre Wright receive diplomas at their high school's commencement Wednesday afternoon, they'll know who to thank for their motivation. Each other. The identical twins, 17, are the top two students in their graduating class at Scott High School in Toledo, Ohio. Deontae, with a grade-point average of 4.5, is the class valedictorian. Deontre, close on his heels with a 4.4 GPA, is the salutatorian. It is an achievement the boys say they have dreamed of since they were in elementary school. "We didn't know what honor roll or the principal's list was until the second grade," Deontre says. "Then we wanted to be on it all the time." Both brothers credit their success to countless hours of studying -- and a friendly rivalry. "Our biggest thing is competing against each other," Deontre says. "We ended up having a competition all throughout high school to see who would do better." When they're not studying, Deontae and Deontre somehow find time to serve as officers in student government, work two part-time jobs and volunteer with a teen outreach program in their community. Both Deontae and Deontre have received full electrical engineering scholarships to Ohio State University in Columbus. Their mother Victoria Lampkin describes her sons as "always focused" and attributes their academic success to her and their father's parenting style. They give the twins the autonomy to make their own decisions. #LivingWhileBlack #BlackExcellence #BlackMen #BlackBoys #BlackBoyJoy #BlackFamilies #BlackLoveMatters #BlackLove #BlackMoms #BlackDads #BlackFathers #melanin #Engineering #Engineer #Engineers #BlackEngineers #BlackEngineer
