Jump Intuition BLIND ATHLETE . . When working with jumpers I talk a lot about working to become an intuitive jumper. Someone who FEELS jumping rather than uses conscious reasoning. While there is a time and a place for thinking about what you’re doing, the goal is ALWAYS to make jumping more of who you are vs. What you do. . . @lexgillette is BLIND and killing these hurdle hops. TBT all the way back to 10 days ago when we conquered the five boroughs of New York City in the NYC Marathon! Had to share the official race photos of such an epic journey that started 2.5 months ago. I had no plan to run the NYC Marathon again this year. Loved running it the past several years but I really just wanted to spectate and cheer for people this year; when I got a call, that a friend of a friend needed a guide for the NYC Marathon. With out delay, I responded, “I’d love to, would be honored!” (I quickly forgot everything I need to put in to run a marathon) The next week we started training together in Central Park. Both of us living an hour away from Central Park in opposite directions, made it nice and challenging to meet for 7am runs! But you better believe we were out there at 7am every Thursday for the past 2.5 months and even earlier on some weekends. It’s been a joy to train together and inch closer and closer to our goal. On race day it was an entirely new perspective for me, thinking abut his nutrition over mine, making sure no one tripped over him and that he didn’t trip over anyone or anything, clearing people out of the way to keep our path clear, reading every possible spectator sign out loud, and celebrating when His name was called from the crowds, not mine, until we received the ultimate reward for all our hard work—crossing that glorious finish line! Many of you have asked, so I am going to go ahead and publicly clear this up. Asim and I are not dating. He is happily married, and I am happily single. :) I am his guide, coach and running partner, and it’s been a joy to serve him and smash another goal together, as a team. Take what you have and share it. Your time, your skills, your energy, your resources, your smile. Share whatever you have. You will be surprised how much it blesses you to be a blessing! As a coach and a guide I may have gotten more out of this experience than Asim did. We will never know. Pay it forward.

Há 13 anos perdi minha visão depois de um trauma emocional. Nesse período pensei que a vida tinha praticamente acabado. Me entreguei ao sedentarismo e cheguei a pesar 120kg. Nessa época realizava vários exames periódicos e descobri que tudo estava alterado. Resolvi, então, procurar ajuda. Primeiro, aprendi a "bater bengala", foi quando recebi um convite para aprender a nadar e minha vida mudou. Passei a enxergar o mundo de uma maneira diferente, e o esporte foi o principal motivo.
