Happy day! I don’t know about y’all but I’m more than ready for the weekend .
•••
I started A HEAD FULL OF GHOSTS last night and finished it this afternoon because I just had to know how the story turned out. I read horror novels all the time but that one got to me . I think it was because it was told from the POV of an 8 year old child for most of the time. Now I’m settling in with EDUCATED. I placed a hold on this at the library when a friend told me how amazing they thought it was. And I love memoirs so I’m excited to get into it. I’ll probably mix in some fiction at the same time because that’s how I read nonfiction best . Do you like to read nonfiction?
I read so many great books in March, but April is starting off incredibly slowly, as I’m still reading SAY SAY SAY by Lila Savage. I’m really enjoying it, but I think external factors, like just random life things, have sort of gotten in the way. I’ve found myself pretty stressed and just kind of unmotivated, which is a major bummer.
•
I’m feeling a little book slump-y, but I’m reaaally hoping I can avoid that! Any tips?
hey friends!✨ here’s a corner of my room I don’t post much! maybe eventually I’ll get to an entire room tour (someday)

thank you all so much for 95k (even though I’m a day late) it means so much to me! since I’ve gained quite a few followers lately, let’s have a Q&A session! leave any curious q’s you have below—I’ll answer as many as I can
♥ who’s your favorite secondary character?
———————
Mine used to be Nikolai, but then he got his own much-deserved series, so now it’s Nina. I also adore Kenji from the Shatter Me series!
♥ If you watched my stories yesterday, you saw that I was questioning a new, darker aesthetic for my feed. I obviously did not go that direction I still really want to and most likely will around fall, but I think I found a good balance of dark and light for spring/summer. Hope you all like it! Side note: be prepared for a lot of photos with items from the Saints & Scars box from @illumicrate - I know I’m late to the party but oh well

Can we all appreciate the description of Cardan in the opening lines of The Wicked King So according to all your comments on my last post, we all hate to love Cardan and I’m not the only one who has mixed feelings about him! He kind of reminds me of The Darkling in the sense that I can’t help but love him but I know he is an arrogant, twisted character who will most likely break my heart at some point I hope you guys have a magical day ✨
Oh friends! I need to tell you about Dear Mrs. Bird! And if you are thinking…”ugh historical fiction it’s ALL SO SAD.” I’m going to stop you right there. This book was a DELIGHT. I just adored this book and the main characters.
It’s about a twenty-something gal during WW2 with big dreams of being a war correspondent, applies for a job she THINKS is doing that….but she finds out she’s really taken a job as a typist for a small, kinda out of touch women’s magazine. And her boss is this harsh, no-nonsense woman who refuses to publish anything REAL (aka in her words UNPLEASANT things) in her advice column and, well, the main character just can’t sit idly by as these letters pull at her heartstrings from women bearing their souls.
I loved so much about this book but the one thing that struck me is how it captures every day life in the midst of a BIG event and it hit me so hard — the push and pull of the gravity of what’s going on vs. NORMAL LIFE. People are dying in this war, they experience so many bombings that become almost NORMAL, things are scary and uncertain…..but these characters still go to work, think of their futures, go on dates, get giddy about silly things, go to movies.
The main character muses about this a little bit and it’s a sentiment I understand — trying to live normal life even when really hard/big things are happening around you. Trying to almost cloak yourself in the normalcy because everything else is SO not normal but sometimes feeling guilty about it or feeling the hard stuff in a much more visceral way. I felt like that when my mom was sick and after she died. And I think this book showcases this really well, that push and pull, towards trying to find normalcy in something really awful and do their part, in what way they could, to HELP and carry on together.
So yeah, if you want a less sad (there IS a sad part) historical fiction novel with a spunky main character who has a good heart with good intentions that are sometimes questionably executed…this is a fantastic book!
Have you read this one? Also I’m here for any and all historical fiction recs that are less sad (which is my normal wheelhouse) bc I was into this!!
So today I grabbed some colorful stuff to celebrate 5k thank you guys so much.
And I’ll take today’s post to know a little more about you. What’s your favorite color and music/book genre?
And of course: what’s your favorite book in the world? A book that you recommend to everybody?
.
.
.
I always say To Kill a Mockingbird. And today I was thinking I read it a long time ago so maybe it’s time for a reread.
And about my colors: blue, and red, and black (black is not a color, Sonia!). whatever. I would say FLOWERS are my favorite color, but we don’t wanna discuss about this.
As for my favorite genres:
Music: almost everything (rock, alternative, soul, r&b, Jazz, and this could go on forever)
Books: Crime and classics. But I do enjoy other genres.
