Where are my sweet tooth’s at!? I’m right there with ya‍♀️! It’s my biggest weakness! The second I finish a meal, I’m looking for the dessert! I have 3 soul-utions to help you get a handle on your sweet cravings! 1. Eat the dessert! I’m not here to take away happiness! Just choose ones that aren’t full of garbage ingredients or highly processed. My favorite way of eating desserts is through baking them, I get to know exactly what’s going into them, plus I add a special ingredient to mine...love!(okay that was corny) Or if that’s not your thing, so many amazing, creative people have come up with great quality desserts with clean ingredients that you can find in the grocery store! (I can help guide you) 2. Eat your fruits and veggies! Fruits may help quench that sugary craving! And I feel if you feed your body with quality food, a lil dessert won’t hurt! 3. Stressed spelled backwards is desserts....and being stressed is not what we are going to do! Eat that slice of cake, that ooey gooey brownie or that carrot muffin! Just try not to eat the whole cake, brownie pan or all 12 muffins. It’s all about moderation and allowing yourself to be in control without feeling any stressful emotions towards it! #brain #brainhealth #brainhealthmatters #healthychoices #healthymind #organic #glutenanddairyfree #healthyliving #mindset #selfhealers #selfcare #bakeforthesoul #dessert #yum #brainblogger #brainbody #gutbrainconnection #becreative #livefree #dairyfree #glutenfree #holistichealth #holistichealing #noemotions

“The five yin-organs of the human body produce five kinds of essential qi, which bring forth joy, anger, grief, worry, and fear." TCM also believes that certain organs are related to emotional activities, i.e. the heart is related to joy, the liver to anger, the spleen to pensiveness, the lungs to anxiety and the kidneys to fear. The emotions are considered the major internal causes of disease in TCM. Emotional activity is seen as a normal, internal, physiological response to stimuli from the external environment. Within normal limits, emotions cause no disease or weakness in the body. However, when emotions become so powerful that they become uncontrollable and overwhelm or possess a person, then they can cause serious injury to the internal organs and open the door to disease. It is not the intensity as much as the prolonged duration or an extreme emotion, which causes damage. While Western physicians tend to stress the psychological aspects of psychosomatic ailments, the pathological damage to the internal organs is very real indeed and is of primary concern of the TCM practitioner. Excess emotional activity causes severe yin-yang energy imbalances, wild aberrations in the flow of blood, qi (vital energy) blockages in the meridians and impairment of vital organ functions. repost@#kanpobliss #chinesemedicine #acupuncture #emotions #brainbody #brainhealth #wellness #balance #heal #organsystems #feelings #heart #liver #spleen #kidney #lungs #joy #grief #anger #worry #fear #fearless

Does size matter? It depends, but less than you might think when it comes to intelligence. Over the past three million years of hominin (human) evolution, blood flow to the brain has grown 600 percent, while brain size has grown 350 percent during the same time. In other words, intelligence is related more to the brain’s blood flow than to its size. Both blood flow and brain size are important, but blood flow matters more, and that means blood pressure and circulation may strongly affect your brain health.⠀ ⠀ The importance of optimal blood flow to the brain is vital to its health and allowing it to function at its best. The brain is an entirely aerobic organ that does not store glucose or much glycogen, and so relies on a constant blood supply. The brain is the most calorie-hungry organ in the body: it is only 2 to 3 percent of body weight, but it consumes 25 percent of total body glucose and 20 percent of total body oxygen. In other words, your brain is a metabolic hog. It is the ultimate output center for all the efforts of the body. If we don't eat properly, don't exercise right, and don't sleep, the primary impact is on the brain. If the fuel sent from the body to the train is of poor quality, the brain will suffer. ⠀ ⠀ What reduces blood flow to the brain? ⠀ ⠀ Eating a standard American diet, high in inflammatory carbohydrates, causes low blood flow to the “focus” part of your brain. High blood sugar, can change blood flow to the brain and alter the body’s regulation of blood pressure. High blood pressure, which damages blood vessels in the brain and is the top risk factor for stroke. Decreased blood flow to the brain may cause brain fog, memory loss, fatigue, anxiety, depression, low libido, hormone imbalance, and neurodegenerative disease.⠀ ⠀ Improve and increase blood flow to the brain with exercise, meditation, a mostly plant-based diet (we all need more vegetables), and brain botanicals. ⠀ ⠀ #brainbodydiet #neurogenesis #brainhealth #personalizedlifestylemedicine #brainbody

I start my day the same way each morning: matcha tea, meditation, and unstructured time. That's what most women need to connect to their inner divinity. Every morning, I take at least quiet 10 minutes, and preferably 30-60, to remind myself of who I am, how I want to show up for others today, and what my mission is. Usually there’s no camera recording all of this! I'm a woman who has an overactive stress response system; that is, I'm hypervigilant, and need to reset my stress level (HPATG axis) every single day. I sometimes feel like a little girl stuck in the middle of a busy street with cars whizzing by, wondering where are the wise adults charged with my care? So I’ve learned to be that wise adult for myself. I sit, take myself by the hand, and say, “Darling, you got this. You are wise, kind, and patient. It’s time to re-consent to creating the best possible day, and being the best possible Sara Gottfried.” Then I remember something I need to buy on Amazon, and I have to remind myself to stay in the moment! I drink the matcha to help me focus and wake up, particularly during a book launch! A morning cup of matcha (ground up green tea leaves) not only energizes you without the rev of coffee but also provides a rich dose of polyphenols, anti-oxidants that prevent oxidative stress from making you old and sick. One of the shining stars of matcha’s cast of characters is epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). Green tea leaves, stems, and buds contain six types of anti-oxidants known as catechins (of which EGCG is one), and all six clear your body of free radicals and can weaken the cold virus. That means when you’re exposed to the cold virus, you’re less likely to get sick. Taken further, studies show that components in matcha help prevent and reverse liver disease, infections, digestive issues, heart disease, neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s), hormonally related cancers (breast, endometrial, ovarian, prostate), all-cause mortality, and even genital warts. Reclaim your morning. Don’t be in a rush to check your emails. Instead, check the inner emails between your brain and body.
