Badly fitted/damaged carpets courtesy of @tapi_carpets is one thing but consistently being fobbed off (some may describe it as lying) is another. Two weeks ago we had our badly fitted/damaged carpets replaced (well, 2 out of the 3 they promised to replace!). We also had the rest of the house carpeted (we were due to have it done in stages but we couldn't risk a repeat of carpetgate so opted for completion asap). We pushed for 'compensation' and were offered either to keep damaged carpets or money. We couldn't keep the 'old' carpets as well as have a small refund because they needed, I quote, to 'recoup their losses' (?!?) A week and a half ago we went in to pick another piece of flooring after the coir matting we initially ordered didn't fit (despite me asking twice if they were sure it would be ok). Again we were fobbed off as to where our compensation was and told to call back mid week to get it paid. Authorisation had been given (apparently) so it wouldn't be a problem if the Manager wasn't in the office (we weren't sure why it couldn't be paid there and then but went along with it). Today we have been told they won't pay anything until the final piece of matting is fitted and carpet is on the stairs (we are still waiting on them!!). It's no longer about badly fitted carpets and all about poor customer service. No one likes being fobbed off, we don't like being hung up on when asking for our refund and I find the statement 'I'm not arguing with you, I'm telling you' quite inflammatory! Today has been the best day!! We finally have carpet and it feels so homely. We also put our sofa in place and it looks amazing, it’s so nice to walk into the lounge and for it to feel like home ⁣ ⁣ There seems like there is still so much to do but there really isn’t, we’re hoping to be moved in by next weekend ⁣ ⁣ The wardrobe interiors are complete, we just have the doors to finish painting but they’re not that important at the moment. We just need to get the kitchen finished and we can move in. I’m so overwhelmed that we’re so close to moving in.
