Today I have a PET scan. A pet scan shows what’s going on inside your body at a cellular level. The scan can take up to an hour. I have to ingest a radioactive mixture that helps light up my insides for the scanner to get a reading. I’ve been instructed to stay away from small children and pregnant women for 6 hours after the scan! Because I’m literally going to be radioactive. Scans like this are NOT particularly good for you. My lovely pal @its_not_kates_time has given me a strict post-scan-detoxing protocol, which actually will work perfectly with the juice fast I’m doing at the moment. Can you believe It’s been 10 months since I was diagnosed. 10 months of being on this emotional roller coaster. I’m feeling overdue for a holiday... Three years ago I was at this moment road tripping across The USA. Eating greasy diner food. Drinking beer in dive bars, making new friends. Seeking out markets, vintage stores and photo opportunities every place we stopped. Obviously my lifestyle is different now, and next time I travel () I’ll be seeking out raw food cafes and yoga studios, early nights and morning hikes... thank you for all of the wig love! We bought our Jeep 2 days before @dnodna_jp12 (my husband) had full exploratory/cancer debulking surgery (complete with a 16 inch scar down the front! This was 2 years into his terminal cancer diagnosis). He built this Jeep while doing week long chemo treatments twice a month, multiple hospital visits, and recovering from a massive surgery. He completely repainted the Jeep, did some welding, and also some engine work. There was many hang ups while building Jp12 either from the Jeep or my husbands health. He built this for our son to have one day. Some of you may remember last year I shared that my mom wanted a rather unconventional funeral. As a kid, i remember her telling me she wanted us to have a big party, drinks, play softball and burn her in the garden. (Disturbing, yeah but she really didn’t want to be buried whole and was all about saving money. ) Obviously we went the legal cremation route but everything else we followed through on (exchange softball for kickball.) This year we are doing it all over again and collecting money for an organization near and dear to our hearts ever since they showed such kindness towards us when my mom was sick. All proceeds collected at this years’ kickball game will be donated to the @breathingroomfoundation in hopes of re-paying their generosity and more for other families that are going through the same situation and need a little “Breathing Room” to ease stress and spend time with their loved one. Last year at the time of the funeral, all donations in my mom’s name were sent to another worthy cause, @bringinghopehome , and we hope to alternate our donations every year. I’m not sharing this for a pat on the back but rather to encourage anyone looking for a cause deserving of your hard-earned money to consider either one (or both!) of these non-profits.
