SHAZAM ! #4 The movie is almost in theaters, and I'm hyped! @geoffjohns_ does another great issue with a crazy final page reveal. The Shazam family are scattered across the magic lands, Billy and Mary on the funlands, Eugene and Pedro in gamelands, Darla and Freddy in wildlands. Billy is neutralized by the king of funlands and is now taken hostage with Mary. They're shocked by an underworld of adult servants working for the king. Meanwhile Black Adam finds the magic station that the kids found earlier and realizes that Shazam did an #oopsie and shouldn't have went to the lands. Feels like a filler, but it's still a good exploration of the setting and Black Adam showing up covered for all the slow moments. Sure, they might have shared a few hugs and hearty talks there and then, but Cable rarely refers to Cyclops affectionately as Dad. On the contrary, Kid Cable seems to adore and admire his Dad a considerable amount more. It will be interesting to see how their dynamics evolve seeing that Cyclops isn’t too comfortable with the idea of Kid Cable being his son yet and they would be in separate runs with Cyclops appearing in X-Men and Cable appearing in X-Force. GREEN LANTERN #6 Written by one of my all-time favourites, @grant.morrison , this feels a lot like a western story, but in space! Hal tries to infiltrate the Blackstar, and succeeds although at a cost. Grant Morrison has this very special take on Hal Jordan as a fearless yet flawed protagonist. The unpredictable choices Hal makes and the constant feeling of a twist coming out of no where are always present when you're reading the issue. The story had it's twists and turns, but over all it didn't blow me away, it was just another space adventure concluding. The art by @liammccormacksharp though! Personally I find it very rich, detailed and a bit close to what @ethanvansciver did in his run. Sharp is creative and has a vintage and beautiful touch that was really nostalgic to me.. . . . . ADVENTURES OF THE SUPER SONS #9 ! I don't care if you're 7 or 44, this book is pure fun and worth checking if you like comics in general. Jon and Damian are stuck on another prison planet, and this time we're in the wild west!! Jonah Hex is helping out the boys to escape, shooting robots and jumping on trains. @peterj.tomasi is now a master on writing Damian and Jon, no one gets them and their interactions better. Jon picks up Jonah's accent and the "injustice" kids are ready to launch an all out war on earth. The art is beautiful to look at and fits the story very well. It sad to see this end at 12 issues.. . . . Rating: ⭐ .
