one last glazing video for the end of the year! this beaker looks pretty bland right now, but if the kiln gods treat me right this will turn into red drips on black clay kiln gets unloaded on monday!

15lb porcelain vase thrown, trimmed, and carved with a ton of surface work. I think some people see my work and assume there has to be some kind of shortcut or trick to it. It took me about 60 minutes of studio time to throw it; another 30 minutes to trim and prepare; and 120 minutes to fully carve and sponge. It will take about 30 minutes to glaze after Bisque firing. it’s a marathon glazing day! i spent 6 hours in the studio today, which is huge for me as a full time student i just mixed this glaze today to test on this partially broken piece, what color do you think the end product will be?

Defect-7 detail. Incised #stoneware with matte yellow glaze. I really like how this yellow gets freckled when I use it over dark stoneware (or dirty the pot before the glazing with some iron oxide (#rust). Without this effect which happens in a gas firing, it's a rather dull glaze.
