24 | 100 Geometry of DNA Within every single one of our cells is a highly condensed and tightly packaged structure called DNA. Present as a double helix, DNA contains 4 types of nitrogen containing chemicals called Adenine (A), Thymine (T), Cytosine (C), Guanine (G). Depending on the conformation, every 'turn' of DNA will comprise of 10 pairs of the chemicals mentioned above. A will pair with T and G will pair with C. The geometry of our DNA is stunning. Don't you think that some formula hass a pop art soul? I think Lambert-Beer is very pop-artable! I don't known why, maybe cause I am using it almost every day, it easy and I start to feel affect or maybe cause his name reminds me some alcoholic staff! The Beer-Lambert law or Beer-Lambert-Bouguer law is an empirical law that relates the attenuation of light to the concentration of solution. A= is the Absorbance, a measure of light attenuation l= is the length of solution the light passes through c= is the concentration of solution epsilon= is the molar absorptivity I am using this law to understanding the concentration of my yeasts, of my nanoparticles, of selenite or tellurite complex, of my nightmares and hopes... Я держала в руках фотоаппарат, была оформителем и тем человеком, который реагировал на фразу «нужно сделать и напечатать 5 красивых сертификатов на покупку топикусов, срочно», рассказывала 3 раза подряд про ораторское мастерство, доставала людей во время «острого репортажа» с Мэри Михеевой, написала и провела игрушку на местности, была хранительницей пресс-центра ибо каким-то образом знала где и что лежит и просто была очень рада побыть частью такой команды ✨‍♂️

Last week, @steamotype theme/challenge was to highlight 'light and color'. Unfortunately, I couldn't create this in time for that, so here's a bit of a late submission. Today's piece is using a category of paints called luminescent watercolors, and more specifically two kinds - iridescent and interference. To illustrate this point, I've used the same 4 colors on 4 different backgrounds. There's two 'effects' you can achieve with these paints: the fact that depending on the angle from which you look at them, the colors appear to change and two, depending on how light bounces off the background paper, the color looks different to begin with! For those of you who read this far, here's the science behind this: iridescent paints are comprised of a pigment mixed in with mica particles (typically found in shiny paints and cosmetics) that are coated with metal oxides. When light bounces off these particles, it creates two separate reflections - off the surface of metal oxide and off the interphase of mica and metal oxide. This second reflection shifts the wavelength causing certain wavelengths to be reinforced and others to be cancelled out. Depending on the thickness of the metal oxide coating, the phase shift can be small or large and the metal oxide thickness determines the final color. By contrast, interference pigments have no base pigment or hue and therefore show up as 'white' on paper, until theu undergo phase shift! Can you see that on the white paper? The interference red is white until I move the paper and it turns pink! The pattern itself is from the Umayyad mosque in Damascus. Я не знаю почему,но я только сейчас могу полно по порядку и без запинок рассказать о том,где я смогла побывать этим летом. Я начну с того,как мы вообще оказались там. Мы командой приняли участие(спонтанное для меня) поучаствовать в конкурсе. Мы просто решили попробовать и проверить так сказать свои силы и возможности. Мы провели некие исследования,покопались в разных источниках информации и отправили работу. После этого мы через день спрашивали у учителя "ну что там?" " а когда результаты?" И через время мы перестали это делать и мягко говоря смирились с неудачей(ну мы считали на тот момент,что это именно так) Спустя пару недель нам говорят,что мы победили,а наша награда поездка в лагерь под названием "Созидающий атом". Наверное осознание того,что мы победили дало толчок,что всё-таки нужно пробовать что-то новое. (Я думаю если бы нам просто предложили поехать в лагерь мы бы долго подумали над этим предложением,но то что мы "заработали" эту поездку помогло нам принять решение ооочень быстро) Вообще, мы все думали,что МЫ ЕДЕМ ОТДОХНУТЬ! Но не тут то было! Это был какой-то новый для меня формат детского лагеря. У нас не было ни минуты покоя. Росатом приготовил для нас интересную учебную деятельность в виде разработки полного КВЕСТА. Мы не только слушали,что это такое,какие виды и формы заданий могут там быть,НО совместно с теорией мы сами создали квест,да еще и провели его между другими командами А в итоге наш Квест оказался лучшим просто осознание того,что ты сделала что-то годное вызывает восторг!
