1/9/18 - @melbournefc 5th spot Elimination final vs @geelongcats For the first time since 2006, the Dees have returned to the finals. After years of being bullied by their opponents they have put together a home and away season to be proud of. They love playing at the @mcg, so they’ll have confidence going into the must win final against Geelong. If they play their fast, hard and brave style of footy consistently, they could be a major threat to every team in the 8. However, due to such a long time between finals appearances, they could potentially be overwhelmed by the entire experience and be beaten next Friday night. They owe the Cats after losing their two home and away clashes by less than a goal, so what better time to beat them than in a final. A bit like the @sydneyswans, it’s hard to say what should be expected of the Demons, but one guarantee is that their Captain, @nathan2jones will do everything in his power to get his side over the line.

30/9/18 - The 2018 AFL Grand Final will go down in history. It was one of the best Grand Finals in recent history. The weather at the @mcg was sublime and football played matched it. @collingwood_fc jumped out of the gate and kicked the first 5 goals of the game in the blink of an eye. With a 28-point margin late in the first quarter, a blow-out was on the cards. However, through Willie Rioli and Josh Kennedy, the Eagles managed to claw back a couple of goals and trailed 14-31 at 1/4 time. @westcoasteagles settled much better in the second quarter. Although there wasn’t a lot of scoring in the second term, the game was well and truly anyone’s for the taking. A late snap goal from Luke Shuey closed the margin to 12 points at 1/2 time, 27-39. The 3rd quarter belonged to the Eagles. They outscored the Magpies by 12 points to tie it all up at 55-55 at 3/4 time. Collingwood kept themselves alive in the third quarter through players like Mason Cox, Taylor Adams and Tom Langdon. The Pies came out firing in the last, kicking the first two goals. But the Eagles quickly responded and it was a Dom Sheed set-shot from the boundary that proved the difference. In an absolute arm-wrestle of a game, the West Coast Eagles, who trailed for the majority held up the Premiership Cup. Luke Shuey was awarded the Norm Smith Medal for his phenomenal effort. Final Score: 11.13.79 vs 11.8.74

25/9/18 - @hawthornfc may have fallen short this season, but it isn’t all doom and gloom for the Brown and Gold. They can now, as many expected, boast having the best and fairest player in Australia. Tom Mitchell, in his second season at the Hawks won his first Brownlow Medal last night. The Hawthorn Midfielder finished on 28 votes, 4 ahead of next best Steele Sidebottom from @collingwood_fc. The Hawk started incredibly well, having 9 votes after 3 rounds, and stormed home towards the end of the season to attain a lead that could not be beaten. @melbournefc’s Angus Brayshaw surprised many by finishing in 3rd. Tom Mitchell, the AFL world congratulates you.
