Hi #debtfreecommunity here is my official introduction! My name is Shelby and I am 30 years old, I am engaged (getting married in two months) and we have two dogs.

I started my debt free journey one year ago, in June. I wasn’t too wise when it came to money. I didn’t really think about saving, especially investing. I thought that was something I didn’t have to worry about until I was older (silly, I know). However, once my fiancé and I decided we really wanted to buy a home, we also realized we didn’t have any money, we were in debt, and we had no idea what to do. We actually considered buying a trailer just so we could stop renting but I am SO thankful we didn’t.

We got lucky and my parents gave us a great deal on their rental home. My fiancé found a new job making literally almost double what he made before and I started my business, a dog hiking and walking company. Which, unfortunately was slow at first but it has grown and continues to grow everyday and I am so thankful that I get to do what I love!

Fast forward to today. We have paid more than half of our debt off! We are 7-8 months away from a 20% down payment for a home, and most importantly our stress levels have gone WAY down. We still have a ways to go and I know we will always be careful with money but I thank Jesus everyday that I realized we needed to make some changes a year ago and it has gotten us to where we are today. Being frugal and sticking to a budget may not be easy but it is SO worth it. My only regret is not starting sooner!!
Try fasting for 16 hours and eating ALL your meals in an eight hour window (~10 AM to 6 PM). This is known at the 16:8 plan. During the fasting period, you can drink water, black coffee and/or unsweetened tea.
