كتير من الناس فاكرين ان سلطة قيصر اصلها من روما وان اسمها علي اسم يوليوس قيصر، لكن يُقال ان السلطة دي اخترعها مهاجر إيطالي كان عايش في مدينة تيخوانا في المكسيك سنة ١٩٢٤م قيصر مارديني وهو صاحب مطعم كان موجود في شارع رئيسي، في يوم فوجئ بعدد كبير من الزباين وكانت كل مكونات الأكل عنده خلصانة، راح جمع شوية مكونات كانت عنده: خس رومين، ثوم، خبز محمص، جبنة بارميزان، زيت زيتون، بيض، وصلصة وورسيستير. فعجبت كل الزباين وحكوا عنها في كل مكان ومن ساعتها بقي فيه سلطة قيصر. Many people assume that Caesar salad originated in Rome and was named for Julius Caesar, the salad is believed to have been invented by an Italian immigrant in Tijuana, Mexico. In 1924 Caesar Cardini, an owner of a restaurant on a main street, was running low on ingredients and was caught by surprise when a large group of clients arrived. In an attempt to improvise, he tossed together a few items he had on hand: romaine lettuce, garlic, croutons, Parmesan cheese, olive oil, eggs, and Worcestershire sauce. تفتكروا ليه #الساندوتش اسمه ساندوتش؟! كان فيه دبلوماسي ورجل دولة ومخترع ومستكشف بريطاني، اسمه جون مونتاجو، ايرل ساندوتش الرابع (١٧١٨ ~ ١٧٩٢) وكان لما يلعب بوكر ماكانش يحب حاجة تعطله عن اللعب حتي الأكل وفي مرة طلب من الخادم قطعة لحم محشوة بين شريحتين من العيش المحمص، عشان يقدر ياكله منغير ما يوقف لعب. الفكرة عجبت أصحابه وكل واحد فيهم طلب هو كمان "ساندوتش" A British diplomatic, statesman, inventor and explorer named by John Montagu, 4th earl of Sandwich (1718~1792) He was a gambler, he was deep in poker play and unwilling to break for anything even food. He requested that a servant bring him a piece of meat, stuffed between two slices of toast so he could eat without stopping the card game. #الدوناتس بيقولوا انه في نص القرن ال١٩ لما كان الهولنديون بيصنعوا حاجة اسمها اوليكوك او الكيك المقلي في الزيت وهي عبارة عن كرات من العجين بتتقلي في دهن خنزير، وعشان مركز الكيك مكانش بيستوي بسرعة زي سطحه فكانوا بيحشوه بالفاكهة او المكسرات عشان مش بيحتاجوا وقت كتير يستووا فيه. وفي قصة تانية بتقول ان إليزابيث غريغوري أم قبطان سفينة في نيو إنجلاند في مرة عملت عجينة مقلية عشان تبسط بيها طاقم السفينة في رحلاتهم الطويلة وكانت بتحشي العجينة دي بالبندق أو الجوز وسمت الأكلة دي دوناتس. وبعدها راح اخترع ابنها هانسون غريغوري الشكل الدائري المعروف دلوقتي سنة ١٨٤٧ لما كان علي سفينته في محاولة منه انه يقلل الدواخل النية وقال انه خرم العجين بخزنة مسدس صفيح بتاع السفينة. الفتحة اللي عملها زودت وصول الزيت السخن للعجين وبالتالي الأجزاء الداخلية استوت. غريغوري بيقول ان هو اللي انتج اول فتحة للدونات. #Doughnuts It was said that in the mid-19th century when the Dutch were making olykoeks or oily cakes, balls of cake fried in pork fat. Because the center of the cake would not cook as quickly as the outside, the pastries occasionally were stuffed with fruits or nuts, which required no cooking. Another common story refers to Elizabeth Gregory, a New England ship captain’s mother, who prepared deep-fried dough for the boat crew to enjoy on long voyages. She stuffed the dough with hazelnuts or walnuts and referred to the treats as doughnuts. According to her son, Hanson Gregory, he invented the familiar ring shape in 1847, while aboard his ship. In an effort to eliminate the raw insides, he claims to have punched a hole through the center of the dough with the ship’s tin pepper box. The hole increased the doughnut’s exposure to the hot oil and therefore eliminated the uncooked center.
