In 2018, more than 60 farmers and their children finished a three-month training on Agriculture Entrepreneurship, making them more competitive in the market and giving them path that empowers them to become self-reliant! Our 2019 goals: Today, we are pleased to announce that more than 1000 farmers will again benefit to our Farm School training in in Pampanga and we will expand our operations to: 1. Davao City in Paquibato District in 10 villages (per quarter), mostly indigeneous peoples, 2. Brgy. Fortuna, Floridablanca, Pampanga 3. Batang 1st and neighboring coastal villages in Sasmuan, Pampanga We will also replicate the system in the Kingdom of Cambodia. We are creating a network of farmer-entrepreneurs who answer the call to embrace innovation and inclusive development in creating wealth and growth in rural areas. When we buy fruits and vegetables at our local groceries, we might think that these come from big farms or companies. But in fact, 85% of our food comes from smallholder farmers, or those farms which have only small plots of land and 1-2 crops. This was one of the things that #TeamVCS learned while working with East-West Seed, a vegetable seed company whose mission is to Sow a Better Future for smallholder farmers living in the tropics. Through their high-quality seeds and knowledge transfer programs, these farmers yield not only better vegetables, but a better future for their families. This is the first plant we tried growing on our backyard. Surprisingly it wasn't that hard to grow, just a little water, sunlight and love. It took about 40 days for it to get to this stage.
