Having a sustainable life in Colombia is harder than I thought. There are a lot of restaurants that still use disposable plastics, the meat consumption is ridiculous, fair and sustainable fashion brands are hard to find and the amount of cars in the city increases by the hour.⁣ Been here for so long makes me realized that the sustainable life I am striving in The Netherlands is impossible to have here (at least for now in the city of Barranquilla). Zero-waste is a concept that doesn't exist here, I feel so guilty every time I have to use plastic or when I have to use the car to go around the corner. ⁣ The prices for sustainable products are 5x more expensive than non-sustainable ones. Vegan and power foods are only for the privileged.⁣ Still, I think there are some things Colombian people can do. ⁣ Refuse plastic straws and cutlery as much as possible⁣ Bring your reusable bag when you do groceries⁣ Eat meat/chicken/fish only once per day. Eventually, cut it down to 6 days per week and so on.⁣ Buy clothes made in Colombia but only if you really need them. The most sustainable option is not to buy anything new. Repair, lend, borrow your clothes.⁣ ⁣ Second-hand shops, farmer markets, bulk shops are not an option here. Knowing this, which other easy tips could you give to my friends from Barranquilla to have a more sustainable life?⁣ ⁣

Ich hab mal in einem Podcast gesagt, dass es kaum Unterwäsche/ Bikinifotos von mir gibt. Weil ich das irgendwie nicht so mag und mich auch meistens einfach nicht wohl damit fühle. Letztens habe ich aber dieses Foto von mir gemacht und hatte unerwartet viel Fun dabei. Trotzdem hab ich es nicht gepostet, weil ich zum einen nicht das Gefühl habe, dass ich so wirklich was über mein überkritisches Körperbild von mir selbst sagen darf (ich seh schon diverse Leute ihre Augen rollen) und zum anderen, weil ich jetzt schon weiß, dass es ungefähr doppelt so viele Likes kriegt wie andere Bilder von mir. // Aber wenn ich das kurz ausblende, will ich sagen: Spärlich bekleidete Selbstportraits fühlen sich zwar im ersten Moment ungewohnt an, können aber helfen und haben mir einen Realitätscheck verschafft: Ich find mich nämlich viel mehr okay darauf als ich gedacht hätte. Und viel besser: Ich merke, wie oft ich schon sehr unfair zu meinem Körper war und wie unnötig das ist. Dass ich eigentlich gar keinen Nerv habe, darüber nachzudenken, warum der sehr dünne Ballettkörper nicht mehr da ist, weil’s einfach egal ist. Und die Erkenntnis ist doch ziemlich schön. ✨ PS: (Werbung weil Markennennung) Unterwäsche ist von @erlich_textil und superbequem. Unterwäsche, die nervt, kommt eh nicht mehr in Frage. Today was a good day! ⚡️ We think it’s important to have opinion leaders and people who speak up - especially in the media and social media. But it’s not just enough to speak up, we need to take action! Today once more we saw how both can go hand in hand when you’re willing to really take a stand. People like @louisadellert and the students behind @fridaysforfuture.de are giving us hope that there is a real grassroot movement that finds its way to the top by every action. Like today at the @klimawache in Berlin where people come together to show that they care about climate change and they want to see actions made by politicians. Furthermore @femnetev wrote that the @bmz_bund is going to publish a draft for a so-called supply chain law (Wertschöpfungskettengesetz) which would force companies and brands to be more transparent and care about the different steps throughout the whole supply chain.
